In this position...

Ford is seeking a strategic, results-oriented Buyer, Console Switch to lead sourcing strategy and commercial execution for the Console Switch commodity. This role will drive global competitiveness, supply resilience, cost optimization, supplier performance, and launch success across vehicle programs.

You'll work closely with Engineering, Product Development, Manufacturing, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, and Program teams while managing key supplier relationships and influencing sourcing decisions with senior leadership visibility.

What you'll do...
  • Develop Commodity Strategy: Create and execute global sourcing strategies that improve cost, quality, supply resilience, technology, and program performance.
  • Lead Program Sourcing: Manage sourcing activities from concept through launch, ensuring alignment with program timing, cost, quality, and capacity requirements
  • Drive Cost and Value: Develop cost roadmaps, identify productivity opportunities, conduct cost and market analysis, and deliver savings through negotiation, benchmarking, and design optimization
  • Manage Supplier Performance: Lead Tier 1 and directed Tier 2 supplier relationships, driving performance across cost, quality, delivery, capacity, and commercial objectives
  • Lead Commercial Negotiations: Develop and execute negotiation strategies that balance Ford requirements, supplier economics, market conditions, and long-term business objectives
  • Manage Risk and Claims: Identify supply, capacity, financial, and commercial risks; develop mitigation plans; and lead supplier claims and issue resolution
  • Influence Cross-Functional Decisions: Partner across Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program teams to align sourcing decisions with business objectives
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements that strengthen purchasing effectiveness, sourcing processes, and commercial outcomes
  • Engage Senior Leadership: Present sourcing strategies, business cases, supplier recommendations, and risk assessments to senior leaders.

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or a related commercial function
  • Demonstrated experience with supplier negotiations, commercial management, and cost analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate market conditions and make data-driven sourcing decisions
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build relationships and align cross-functional stakeholders
  • Understanding of purchasing processes, systems, policies, and vehicle program lifecycles.
    Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

    Experience sourcing console switches, electronic components, electromechanical systems, or related automotive commodities

This position is a salary grade 7 and ranges from $86,600-$144,900., This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100-$166,200.

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
