Job Description:

Brooks Instrument (www.brooksinstrument.com), an industry leader in flow and pressure instrumentation for critical applications, is seeking candidates for a Business Systems Specialist positions that will be based at the company headquarters in Hatfield, Pennsylvania (suburban Philadelphia). The company has manufacturing locations in Pennsylvania, Hungary, Malaysia and Korea, and also maintains sales and service offices throughout the world. Our high-tech products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: oil & gas, petrochemical, medical devices, waste water, life sciences, and analytical instruments.

Basic Function

The Business Systems Specialist is a mid-level technical role responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing key enterprise business applications across the organization. The role focuses on system administration, integration support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement for critical platforms such as Siemens Teamcenter, Infor CPQ, Therefore Cloud, custom SQL application and related business systems that support engineering, operations, and sales functions.

The specialist works independently on support issues, configuration tasks, and enhancement projects, while also collaborating with business stakeholders, IT peers, and software vendors. This position plays a key part in ensuring stable system performance, reliable data flows, and effective user adoption throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Application Administration & Configuration
  • Administer and maintain core enterprise applications, ensuring performance, reliability, and alignment with business processes.
  • Configure application settings, roles, permissions, metadata, and workflow elements.
  • Support system upgrades, patching activities, enhancements, and feature rollouts.
  • Collaborate with business owners to understand functional needs and translate them into application configurations.

Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for Teamcenter, Infor CPQ, Therefore Cloud, and other business systems.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of complex application issues, working across technical teams as needed.
  • Troubleshoot integration failures, data inconsistencies, or workflow disruptions, and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain documentation, knowledge base articles, FAQs, and job aids.

Integration & Data Support
  • Monitor and support integrations between systems (e.g., PLM ↔ ERP, CPQ ↔ CRM, DMS ↔ PLM).
  • Analyze data flow issues, validate system mappings, and assist in integration configuration.
  • Work with developers or integration partners on API-based workflows, ETL processes, and automated data exchanges.
  • Assist in system data audits and clean-up initiatives to ensure data accuracy.

User Enablement & Training
  • Provide guidance, training sessions, and onboarding for end users and power users.
  • Partner with business teams to ensure workflows and processes are standardized and well understood.
  • Communicate system changes, outages, and new features to the organization.

Projects & Continuous Improvement
  • Participate in and sometimes lead smaller application enhancement projects.
  • Perform system testing, QA, UAT coordination, and post-release validation.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, optimization, and process improvements.
  • Contribute to long-term application roadmaps and architectural discussions as needed.


Required Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Technology, or a related field
    - OR - Comparable experience in enterprise systems.

Experience
  • 3-5+ years of hands-on experience supporting enterprise business applications (PLM, CPQ, ERP, CRM, MES, or related systems).
  • Practical experience administering or supporting systems such as:
    • PLM Systems (e.g. Teamcenter, Windchill, etc...)
    • CPQ (e.g. Infor, Salesforce, etc..)
    • Document Management or Workflow applications (e.g., Therefore Cloud, Workato, SharePoint, etc...)
  • Experience supporting integrations, data flow troubleshooting, or API-driven systems.

Technical Skills
  • SQL proficiency for troubleshooting and data validation
  • Strong understanding of system administration concepts (roles, permissions, metadata, workflows).
  • Intermediate understanding of system integrations, APIs, ETL flows, or middleware.
  • Familiarity with JSON/XML, REST APIs, CSV import/export, and related data formats.
  • Comfortable working with logs, monitoring tools, and admin consoles.
  • Knowledge of IT change management (ITIL) practices.

Soft Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Clear communication skills for working with end users and technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Solid documentation skills and a disciplined approach to process.
  • Business-facing mindset with the ability to translate requirements into system actions.
