As a Business Systems Analyst, you manage the functional & non-functional requirements solicitation & requirements management process. You are expected to use facilitation, interviewing, concise communication techniques to extract business needs and work closely with Account Directors, Product Owners, Developers, Designers, and other technologists in the realization management of those requirements through to solution implementation.
You are responsible for process analysis, data analysis and systems analysis. You will be expected to possess or rapidly acquire depth & breadth in both Business & Technology domains. You play a crucial role working with team members to facilitate requirements sessions and ensuring business needs are reflected in both functional & non-functional requirements deliverables produced.
The Business Systems Analyst will:- Work closely with business and technology stakeholder to facilitate, interview, extract, and document detail functional and non-functional requirements
- Liaise with business stakeholders to understand industry trends and business priorities that must be factored into solution designs
- Work in an Agile, iterative environment, supporting backlog refinement, sprint planning, and continuous delivery of requirements.
- Define and communicate system requirements at the appropriate level of detail to ensure requirements are concise enough to drive the establishment of the right technology solution
- Analyze and conceptualize design of the solution, working with the Solution Architects, Vendors, Software Developers and Quality Assurance Analysts to achieve the business objectives
- Possess or rapidly acquire business and technical acumen to successfully represent the business and technology domains in solution brainstorming & design sessions
- Support backlog grooming, prioritization, sprint planning, and release planning activities.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to define API requirements, data contracts, integration specifications, and data exchange processes
- Document system interactions, integration workflows, and data mappings
- Coordinate and support Quality Assurance, including test case creation, defect triage, business validation, and sign-off activities
- Assist with the creation of test strategies, test plans and test summary reports required to support Transition to Production processes
- Ensure security, privacy, and compliance considerations (e.g., HIPAA, PIPEDA) are reflected in solution requirements
- Engage and coordinate with external vendors and integration partners to align requirements, APIs, and data exchange standards
- Recommend and lead changes to process and procedure improvements
- Facilitate requirements gathering workshops with business, technology and vendor teams. Build trusted relationships with stakeholders and effectively manage competing priorities, scope changes, and conflicting requirements
- Follow established enterprise practices, standards, and processes
- Maintain a high level of knowledge on current system standards and department established methodologies
- Create interface mapping & specification documents to the level of detail that allows developers to code to those specifications
To be successful as a Business Systems Analyst with People Corporation, you will need:- BSc in Business Administration or/and Computer Science
- 5+ years progressive experience working in a Business Analyst, Solution Analyst, Systems Analyst, or Solution Analyst in a software development environment.
- Strong business side knowledge of the health and wellness space and ability to rapidly acquire analysis methods and processes using a framework.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills with ability to influence across business and technology teams.
- Understanding of ETL (data transformation) processes, tools and practices, including mapping specifications
- Able to communicate complex and technical information to peers & business audience in natural language
- Able to prioritize, multi-task and work as a member of a team and independently
- Advance analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer service orientation is a strong advantage
- Flexible and comfortable working in a fast paced and constantly changing environment with shifting priorities
- Awareness of cybersecurity, data privacy, and compliance frameworks in health/wellness technology.
- CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) and/or Agile-related certifications (PMI-ACP, SAFe Agilist, or Agile BA) are considered an asset
- Experience in health benefits, wellness, disability management, insurance, healthcare, or employee benefits industries is considered an asset

The base salary for this position is between $70,000 - $95,000 annually.
This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation (i.e. annual bonus). The actual base salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
