Acting as a trusted advisor, consultant, and relationship leader, the BRM partners with business stakeholders to understand priorities, challenges, opportunities, and desired outcomes, translating them into scalable, compliant, and sustainable technology solutions.

The BRM helps business partners navigate OCIO processes and services, assuring requests are understood in the context of business priorities, outcomes, urgency, strategic alignment, and value realization.

This role is focused on building trusted relationships, shaping demand, defining business capabilities, improving business processes, and facilitating effective governance and decision-making. The BRM serves as a primary liaison between the business and OCIO, helping clarify needs before work enters delivery channels and ensuring initiatives are aligned to portfolio priorities, enterprise standards, available capacity, and long-term technology strategy.

The role requires strong business acumen, technical fluency, process improvement expertise, executive communication skills, and the ability to bridge strategy, process, technology, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Relationship Management & Business Partnership

  • Influence decision-making without direct authority and help align competing priorities across stakeholder groups.
  • Partner with SIO and PFLT to assure alignment on strategic priorities and initiatives.

Demand Management, Demand Shaping & Portfolio Alignment
  • Lead demand discovery, intake, shaping, prioritization, and governance activities for assigned business areas.
  • Help clarify business needs, desired outcomes, timing expectations, success measures, urgency, and value drivers before work enters delivery channels with a focus on achieving business outcomes.
  • Translate business requests into well-defined demand, capability requirements, opportunity briefs, and initiative proposals.
  • Develop business cases and KPIs to track value of business outcomes and solutions delivered.
  • Support demand shaping by connecting requests to enterprise strategy, portfolio priorities, regulatory requirements, available capacity, and technology roadmaps.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate, standardize, automate, or leverage existing enterprise capabilities before pursuing custom solutions.
  • Facilitate prioritization discussions using business value, risk, strategic alignment, complexity, dependencies, and organizational capacity as decision criteria.
  • Maintain visibility into demand pipelines, project requests, resource constraints, and delivery readiness.
  • Coordinate closely with delivery managers, portfolio and program management teams, enterprise architects, security teams, data and AI teams, product managers, and platform teams to ensure initiatives are properly assessed and routed.
  • Challenge vague, duplicative, or low-value requests and help stakeholders refine opportunities into actionable initiatives.
  • Ensure work is routed through the appropriate intake, governance, funding, and delivery processes.

Business Process Excellence & Capability Planning
  • Analyze and document current-state and future-state business processes, workflows, value streams, and business capabilities.
  • Identify process inefficiencies, operational risks, compliance gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Lead process optimization, standardization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion change management activities for new business processes partnering with the respective business units to help drive adoption.
