Full Job Description
Do you enjoy figuring out how work gets done, identifying where processes can be improved, and using technology to make those improvements real? Are you a technically strong developer who can understand business needs and independently turn them into practical solutions?

Ruekert & Mielke, Inc. (R/M) is seeking a Business Process Automation Developer to identify, design, implement, and support technology solutions that improve internal business processes across the organization. This is a technically focused, high-ownership role that also requires strong business judgment, process understanding, and project ownership. You will work directly with teams across R/M to understand their workflows, identify opportunities for improvement, streamline inefficient processes, and determine how technology can best support the business. You will serve as a primary technical resource for internal automation initiatives. Success in this role requires the ability to work independently, make sound technical and business decisions, and recognize when specialized outside expertise is needed.

What You'll Gain:
  • A high-impact role improving how teams across R/M work through process improvement and technology
  • Ownership of initiatives from initial discovery through implementation and support
  • Broad exposure to business processes across engineering, project management, finance, administration, GIS, and technology
  • Opportunities to apply software development, automation, APIs, cloud services, AI, databases, SaaS applications, and other modern technologies

Goals & Responsibilities
  • Work directly with employees and teams to understand existing processes, systems, pain points, and business needs
  • Identify manual, repetitive, disconnected, or inefficient workflows and recommend practical improvements
  • Translate business needs into functional and technical solutions
  • Determine whether problems are best addressed through process changes, existing software, configuration, automation, systems integration, AI, custom development, or outside expertise
  • Develop and support internal applications, scripts, integrations, and workflow automations
  • Integrate business systems using APIs, databases, cloud services, automation platforms, and other technologies
  • Take ownership of initiatives through discovery, design, implementation, testing, rollout, documentation, and support
  • Manage project priorities, dependencies, risks, and communication with stakeholders
  • Coordinate vendors, consultants, or contract developers when additional technical expertise or capacity is needed
  • Help users adopt new processes and ensure implemented solutions are achieving the intended business results

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in software development, automation, systems integration, business systems, IT, or a related technical role
  • Strong software development or scripting skills using technologies such as PowerShell, JavaScript, .NET, or similar tools
  • Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar business processes, recognize the underlying business need, and make sound decisions
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills
  • Comfortable serving as a primary technical resource and identifying when outside technical expertise is needed
  • Ability to research and implement unfamiliar technologies
