Job DescriptionWhat you will do:
- Works under the general guidance of LEA Superintendent and Berrien RESA's Director of Business & Finance to administer all functions of local district's business offices
- Provides client district with all accounting services essential to the preparation, administration, supervision and control of the budget
- Coordinates audits and monitoring visits for client district
- Prepares financial reporting for the LEA Board of Education, State of Michigan and external audits
- Administers the general ledger, including preparing all required adjustments to the general ledger and supporting documentation for auditors
- Oversees and manages cash flow and bank balancing functions, including assisting with state aid note application, bond issuance and other district borrowing, as needed
- Submits federal and state grant applications and final expenditure reports
- Processes cash requests/invoicing for grants
- Provides ad hoc financial data in a timely manner as requested by LEA Superintendent or Board of Education
- Attends client district Board of Education meetings, as needed
- Assesses business office systems and internal controls, and offers recommendations to the LEA Superintendent
- Works with other staff members to continually improve the efficiency and efficacy of the LEA Business Services department
- Regular and predictable attendance, including in-person work on-site at both client district and Berrien RESA
- Other duties as assigned
Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field required
- CPA and/or Master's Degree preferred
- MSBO Certification as a chief financial officer preferred or willingness to obtain
- Three to five years of financial experience preferred, preferably in a public K-12 District or ISD
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Business & Finance.
