About The Position
- Generates reports and regular datasets or report information for end users, using system tools and database or data warehouse queries and scripts. May create specifications for reports based on business requests.
- Designs, develops and programs methods, processes and systems to consolidate and analyze structured and unstructured data from diverse sources to generate actionable insights and solutions for client services and product enhancement
- Manages the daily data analytics for Ameren’s overall analytics portfolio
- Develops analytics solutions to business problems; partners with the business to understand and solve problems
- Develops, maintains and communicates dashboards and modelling to support business decisions
Key responsibilities include:
- Extracts and cleans data sets in order to assess and create variables for models
- Displays understanding of business problems, conducts preliminary analysis, and identifies and calls out trends and patterns
- Prepares data-driven reporting models for meetings with key stakeholders
- Applies domain knowledge and experience to assist in building application-specific models
- Collaborates with the business to determine the data source(s) required to deliver analytic solutions
- Creates visual reports to answer customer questions
- Designs and creates database schemas and reporting models for the BI solution in a relational database management system
- Develops reports and dashboards using Oracle Business Intelligence, Power BI or Focal Point
- Builds deep understanding of functional business areas (e.g., customer, field operations) by partnering with business stakeholders to define how analytics can solve key business problems
- Understands data science principles and concepts, (e.g., data collection and analysis of unstructured data sets, data science model development and machine learning
- Supports development, implementation and ongoing support of reporting and analytics applications
- Understands the Digital organization’s objectives, and the impact on own projects; contributes to development of new data science strategies
- Supports implementation of new visualization tools and techniques into production and monitors their performance
- Works in an agile environment and engages in development practices such as test- driven development
- Coaches less experienced co-workers and provides feedback to enhance skills, knowledge and work performance
Qualifications - Business Intelligence Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in mathematics, statistics, computer science or business
- 2+ years of relevant experience required
- Will consider candidates without a degree if they show/demonstrate having 4+ additional years of equivalent, relevant experience in tools, systems, and initiatives leveraged by Ameren
Qualifications - Senior Business Intelligence Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in mathematics, statistics, computer science or business
- 5+ years of relevant experience
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
· Working knowledge of data visualization
· Basic understanding of data modeling
· Analytical and creative thinking to address business problems
· Understanding of agile and project methodologies and processes
· Understanding of data science methodologies and processes

Compensation Range:
$84,400.00 - $162,900.00
* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant’s credentials.
At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
