Position Summary

The Epic Cogito Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting analytics and reporting solutions that drive operational and financial decision-making across Deaconess Health System.

This role places strong emphasis on:
  • Revenue Cycle analytics (Professional Billing and Hospital Billing)
  • Advanced use of Epic Cogito tools, including SlicerDicer
  • Development of high-impact Radar Dashboards for operational and executive decision support

The developer will partner closely with operational leaders, finance teams, and clinical departments to deliver scalable, user-focused analytics solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Radar Dashboard Development (Core Emphasis)
  • Design, develop, and maintain Radar Dashboards to support enterprise reporting needs across clinical, operational, and financial domains
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into intuitive, actionable dashboards that support real-time and near-real-time decision-making
  • Develop dashboard standards and best practices to ensure consistency, usability, and performance across the organization
  • Optimize dashboard performance and enhance user experience through thoughtful visualization design and efficient data usage
  • Partner with leadership to build executive-level dashboards supporting Revenue Cycle performance, operational metrics, and strategic initiatives
  • Integrate Radar with downstream reporting tools (e.g., SlicerDicer, Reporting Workbench, Caboodle extracts) to ensure a cohesive analytics experience

Epic Cogito & Reporting Development
  • Design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions using Epic Cogito tools including:
    • Reporting Workbench
    • Clarity & Caboodle data models
    • Cogito SQL reporting
  • Develop scalable and efficient data models and extracts supporting enterprise reporting needs
  • Translate complex business requirements into technical reporting solutions

SlicerDicer Development & Enablement (Core Emphasis)
  • Build and enhance SlicerDicer data models, filters, and user workflows to improve self-service analytics capabilities
  • Develop custom SlicerDicer configurations and drilldowns to support targeted operational use cases [Fw: Databr...NAL EMAIL] | Outlook]
  • Partner with business users to increase adoption and effective use of SlicerDicer
  • Support governance and maintenance of SlicerDicer datasets, including updates tied to Epic releases and enhancements [Proforma a...IDENTIAL** | Outlook]

Revenue Cycle Analytics (Primary Domain Focus)
  • Develop and support reporting solutions across Revenue Cycle domains, including:
    • Professional Billing (PB)
    • Hospital Billing (HB)
    • Claims, denials, reimbursement, and financial performance
  • Build analytics that support:
    • Revenue recovery and optimization
    • Denial management and root cause analysis
    • Financial trending and performance monitoring
  • Design dashboards and reports that provide visibility into key revenue metrics and operational drivers [Fw: Databr...NAL EMAIL] | Outlook]

Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Partner with clinical, operational, and financial leaders to understand business needs and deliver high-value solutions
  • Communicate technical concepts and reporting capabilities to non-technical audiences
  • Participate in cross-functional analytics initiatives

Data Quality, Governance, and Optimization
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across reporting solutions
  • Support enterprise analytics governance standards
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting processes and reduce manual effort

Continuous Improvement & Innovation
  • Stay current on Epic Cogito, Radar Dashboard enhancements, and SlicerDicer capabilities
  • Contribute to internal training, documentation, and knowledge sharing
  • Support alignment with emerging analytics platforms (e.g., Databricks transition)

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Data Analytics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience with Epic Cogito tools, including:
    • Radar Dashboards
    • SlicerDicer
    • Reporting Workbench
    • Clarity / Caboodle
  • Strong SQL development skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Epic Cogito certification(s), especially:
    • Clarity Data Model
    • Caboodle
    • Revenue Data Models
  • Proven experience developing Radar Dashboards for executive and operational reporting
  • Experience building SlicerDicer models, filters, and self-service analytics workflows
  • Strong understanding of Revenue Cycle processes (PB/HB, claims, reimbursement)
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools
