Job Description:

Blue Water Thinking is seeking an experienced and dedicated Business Intelligence Developer to join our team, supporting the Integrated Healthcare Transformation (IHT) initiative at the Department of Veterans Affairs. The primary responsibility of this role is to obtain and analyze data through advanced computerized models and algorithms to inform strategic decision-making and optimize business outcomes for major government infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with technical teams to design and implement data collection tools and techniques to ensure the appropriate integrity, frequency, and confidence is achieved.
  • Create data pipelines that utilize data sources via Python SQL and/or Azure Data factory.
  • Extrapolate data patterns using advanced algorithms to identify actionable insights.
  • Develop graphs, charts, and visualizations to communicate complex technical findings.
  • Present analytical outcomes to managers and stakeholders to guide business model adjustments and future planning.
  • Collect, clean, and validate large datasets from multiple VA sources.
  • Translate raw data into meaningful reports that support healthcare transformation goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data strategies with program objectives.
  • Support predictive modeling and trend analysis to improve veteran healthcare delivery.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Data Science, Statistics, Health Informatics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in a healthcare or federal environment.
  • Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SAS).
  • Strong experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings to non-technical audiences.
  • Familiarity with VHA systems and data repositories, including CDW and VistA.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Data Analytics, Public Health, or related discipline.
  • Experience supporting federal healthcare programs, especially within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
  • Experience with machine learning models and predictive analytics in healthcare settings.
  • Active Public Trust clearance.

Eligibility:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role
