Reporting to the Manager, Operations Coordination, the Business Intelligence Analyst, Operations, provides business intelligence services to internal and external stakeholders to help advance corporate initiatives and programs. The incumbent provides technical support to senior and executive stakeholders by identifying business requirements, developing procedures to analyze various data sources, interpreting and validating data sources, recommending and communicating analyses to stakeholders, and producing analytical and visualization tools such as dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI and the broader Power Platform.

KEY AND PERIODIC ACTIVITIES

The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive:

Primary
  • Support the Manager, Operations Coordination, in advancing corporate initiatives and programs
  • Identify business intelligence requirements and establish and interpret data models to produce analytical and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards)
  • Design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions to support operational and executive decision-making
  • Understand automated data sources and technologies such as EnterpriseOne, Adaptive Insights and the Defence Resource Management Information System, and integrate applicable data across multiple systems to produce analyses and visual tools
  • Interpret results of completed analyses and ensure accuracy and consistency of data
  • Validate data with DCC, Client-Partners and industry
  • Provide insights, advice and recommendations to senior and executive stakeholders, as needed
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships within DCC, and with industry, the Client-Partners and/or stakeholders
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to continuously improve reporting solutions and meet evolving business needs
  • Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate expectations

SKILLS

General and Specific Knowledge

Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience
  • Minimum: university degree in engineering, data sciences, computer science, business, mathematics, statistics, management, accounting or related field with minimum of six years' relevant experience, or the equivalent
  • Preferred: the above qualifications plus experience developing dashboards and reporting solutions in a production environment; Microsoft Power BI certification (e.g., PL-300) or equivalent experience is considered an asset

To begin a career with Defence Construction Canada (DCC), you must be a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident of Canada. As a condition of employment with DCC, a minimum reliability security status clearance is required and some roles may require secret security status clearance.

DCC is responsible for the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically to be eligible for a "Reliability" clearance, you must have five years of verifiable background information and to be eligible for a "Secret" clearance, you must have 10 years of verifiable background information. The process usually involves reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal records checks, and credit checks (as required) and may require fingerprints. The appropriate security clearance is a condition of employment and it is the candidate's or employee's responsibility to ensure, they are able to obtain and maintain their required security level clearance to begin or continue their employment with DCC.
