Position Summary:The
Business Development Specialist - Utility Power will identify and develop new business opportunities in the utility and MV power marketplace with a focus on working with Local Distribution Companies, EPC's, utility contractors and developers in Ontario and across Canada. This position provides the highest quality customer care, following corporate objectives and revenue goals.
Major Responsibilities:- Identify and close Medium Voltage opportunities with new utility/LDC, EPC, data-center developer, renewable, and industrial Medium Voltage customers.
- Track and win bids with Hydro One, LDC, and private projects via MERX, ConstructConnect, and direct relationships.
- Work to get placed on specifications at engineers and procurement with Graybar supported manufacturer lines (MV equipment, utility hardware, automation).
- Build $20M+ qualified pipeline annually.
- Collaborate with multiple Lines of Business within Graybar Canada.
- Evaluate core supplier's offerings and position their product in customer's projects.
- Seek out emerging technologies and products that will enhance our offerings.
- Devise strategies and techniques to achieve growth targets
- Create and provide presentations to boost the company's sales opportunities in all facets of our energy business.
- Review customer specifications and designs.
- Participate in training sessions, trade shows and sales meetings as required.
- Work with customers in other energy verticals as requested.
- Identify, negotiate and close opportunities through deep understanding of the customer's needs.
- Provide ongoing project status updates with all parties throughout design.
Preferred Skills & Experience :- Undergraduate Degree or Diploma in an engineering or energy field preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years' Utility/MV sales experience desired.
- An understanding of power technologies.
- A track record delivering sales growth and experience of negotiating high value equipment supply contracts.
- In-depth knowledge of operational processes, technology and people management techniques.
- Knowledge of Commercial/contract law.
- Proven experience in conflict resolution skills and effective negotiating skills.
- Production to support deliveries and resolve issues that may arise.
- Strong time management, reporting, prioritization and follow-up skills.
- Strong computer software skills (word and excel), combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
