Business Development Specialist - LipidomicsAs we deliver our ambitious 2030 Growth Strategy, we're looking for a
Business Development and Marketing Specialist - Lipidomics for our Pharma Solutions Team. The position is responsible for executing and expanding our lipidomics growth strategy. This unique hybrid role combines strategic business development, scientific engagement, and technical marketing to accelerate Avanti's leadership position in lipidomics standards, biomarker development, and diagnostic-grade reference materials.
Who We're Looking For:• Ph.D, M.S. degree in lipidomics, analytical chemistry, Biochemistry, Cell biology, Molecular biology, Pharmaceutical sciences, related Life Science discipline.
• 5+ years of relevant industry experience including:
Lipidomics, metabolomics, mass spectrometry, biomarker development, analytical standards, clinical diagnostics, life science business development or technical marketing.
• Direct experience in lipidomics research or commercial lipidomics applications.
• Experience supporting clinical diagnostics, biomarker programs, or laboratory-developed tests.
• Familiarity with FDA regulations, ISO 9001/13485/17034 guidelines
• Experience working with academic consortia, government laboratories, public health agencies, or industry collaborators
• Existing professional network within the lipidomics, metabolomics, mass spectrometry, or diagnostics communities.
• Strong communication skills, ability to articulate complex ideas clearly to a variety of technical audiences. Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with laboratory-based scientists and analytical chemists while translating technical concepts into customer-focused value.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently, willing to learn from others and contribute to team efforts.
• Ability to interface with all levels in the organization, including manufacturing or lab personnel and senior management.
• Good understanding of cross functional collaboration.
• Demonstrated success developing customer relationships and identifying strategic growth opportunities.
• Comfortable engaging stakeholders from scientific, operational, quality, regulatory, and executive functions.
• Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and scientific writing skills.
• Strong understanding of lipid classes and lipid biology.
• Experience with LC-MS/MS workflows and quantitative analytical methods.
• Understanding of utilization of isotope-labeled standards, reference materials, and calibration strategies.
• Use of Chemdraw, Canva, Microsoft Office suite
What You'll Be Doing:• Identify, prioritize, and develop emerging opportunities within lipidomics-enabled growth areas.
• Build and manage a strategic pipeline focused on lipid standards, biomarker panels, diagnostic-grade materials, and certified reference standards.
• Establish long-term scientific and commercial partnerships that move beyond transactional sales toward collaborative product development and market expansion.
• Serve as a technical liaison engaging principal investigators, laboratory directors, clinical scientists, method developers, analytical chemists, regulatory/quality.
• Support collaborator programs, strategic alliances, OEM relationships, and co-development efforts throughout the lipidomics ecosystem.
• Develop and review marketing materials for commercial use.
• Help define messaging that positions us as the industry leader in lipidomics standards, workflow solutions, and future diagnostic-grade reference materials.
• Deliver technical presentations, webinars, workshops, and conference talks to educate customers and strengthen positioning with thought leaders.
• Work with scientific collaborators to generate customer success stories, publications, and validation data supporting market adoption.
• Support global marketing campaigns focused on lipidomics, biomarkers, diagnostics, and translational medicine.
