About the Role

The Business Development Senior Specialist – Tech Industry is an integral part of Latham’s Business Development team. This role will be responsible for working in close collaboration with group chairs, key market leaders, and colleagues across the Business Development (BD) department to support the Tech industry groups to achieve their strategic marketing and business development goals, while developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of tech practices, market and industry expertise, client mix, matter experience, trade groups, and media. This role will be located in either our New York, Austin, Bay Area (San Francisco & Silicon Valley), or Downtown Los Angeles (GSO) offices. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Employing knowledge to develop and execute strategic business development and marketing plans, acting as a 3dot connector4 internally
  • Staying abreast of developments and trends in the areas of Technology and Artificial Intelligence broadly, including providing research, analysis, and reporting to support the identification and development of new clients and the enhancement of existing client relationships
  • Supporting AI Practice stakeholders and strategic projects
  • Building and driving the marketing strategy for the Tech industry groups with a focus on measurable impact
  • Achieving fluency in our client base and supporting efforts to identify, pursue, and attain new business from new and existing clients
  • Aiding in the execution of cross-selling strategies, including collaborating with relevant BD teams and key partner stakeholders
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the tech & AI landscape, including various players within the industry, trends, etc.
  • Display well-developed and professional interpersonal skills, including excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to interact with people at all organizational levels
  • Demonstrate the ability to take initiative and work both independently and in a team environment with a customer-service focus

And have:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant business development experience in a law firm or legal environment, preferably
  • A minimum of five (5) years of cumulative relevant experience
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • A bachelors degree or equivalent, preferably
