Fincantieri Marine Systems North America is hiring for a Business Development Manager at our Fincantieri Marine Repair location in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of winning competitive bids and securing contract awards through effective capture management and proposal development, driving sustained revenue growth.

Position Summary

The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving company growth by identifying new business opportunities across commercial and private maritime markets and specialized capture opportunities. This role expands market presence through attending industry events, strategic prospecting, networking, and other business development activities. This position will negotiate, close, and secure new contracts, fostering long-term client relationships across multiple sectors for repeat and/or expanded business opportunities.

Domestic and international travel is required.

Essential Functions
  • Identify, pursue, and win new business development opportunities while expanding market presence, developing repeat business, and securing long-term maintenance agreements aligned with company growth and price-to-win strategies
  • Build and manage a strong opportunity pipeline across commercial and private maritime markets, developing capture plans for vessel maintenance, repair, modernization, conversion, and overhaul services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop competitive bid strategies, RFP responses, and capability presentations for price-to-win approaches
  • Strengthen customer relationships through proactive engagement, clear communication, service alignment, and delivery of solutions that enhance customer satisfaction and long-term loyalty
  • Participate in capture efforts for federal opportunities in government and defense contracting (e.g., NAVY, MSC, Army, Coast Guard, NOAA)
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

  • Strong negotiation, sales, and deal-closing expertise with the ability to drive business growth and secure high-value contracts
  • Ability to analyze maritime market trends, conduct competitive intelligence, identify new opportunities, and develop data-driven capture strategies
  • Proven ability to manage complex opportunities from identification through contract award, including building business cases, assessing ROI, tracking KPIs, and reporting performance outcomes
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
  • Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills, and presentation skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMSNA and have high values for safety awareness


Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, maritime studies, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

8 Years of experience in business development, capture management, or sales within ship repair, shipbuilding, or maritime services

Knowledge of federal contracting regulations (FAR/DFARS) preferred
