We're looking for a Business Development Manager to drive growth across the Eastern Region by identifying opportunities, developing data-driven insights, and influencing key business decisions. Partnering with cross-functional teams, you'll help shape strategies for new, renovated, relocated, and outlier stores while making a measurable impact on business performance. What You'll Do:
  • Identifies region and business specific opportunities and strategies based on market nuances and intelligence
  • Closely manages outlier store plans, collaborating with Business Development and Outlier Store teams regarding usage of parameters like Boundaries, Patterning, Global Attributes or OTS Week adjustments
  • Monitors outlier store and provincial performance to spot risks and opportunities, provide insights and recommendations to Business Development and Outlier Store teams, and identify opportunities to pivot or flex store plans or flow strategies
  • Leads project store process, from footage requirements to plan development and execution, for both pre and post launch
  • Collaborates with the Outlier Business in-office team to create sales and inventory plans for new, renovated, and relocated stores based on physical space, anticipated business strengths, or similar store performance and profitability expectations; raises concerns/challenges as needed
  • Analyzes multiple data sets (through PAW, EXCEL and other reports) to draw insights for business decisions and recommendations
  • Proactively conducts and facilitates in-person and virtual visits to understand in-store complexities and opportunities not evident through reporting alone
  • Assesses the mix on the floor; identifies risks and opportunities to the Business Development and Merchandise teams
  • Leads the integration of business opportunities and market intelligence into a provincial view and shares insights with Business Development in order to incorporate within Eastern Region view
  • Supports and attends in-person and virtual store visits with Merchandise and Store Planning teams to ensure strategic vision is being executed in stores.
  • Identifies mix and language opportunities and escalates to Business Development team to align merchant and regional visions
  • Identifies need for less-than-chain blocks and provides insight into Merchandise Planning owned blocks
  • Contributes to and assists in rolling out communication strategy to the field to provide provincial insights


Collaboration/Relationships
  • Builds connections and trust with key partners including Store Operations, Planning (Core, MP&A, Merchandise Flow), Merchandise Presentation, Property Development, Real Estate, Finance and Marketing to influence and generate actionable ideas
  • Collaborates with FIELD AVP's/ DM partners to mitigate risks and strategize or problem solve solutions
  • Presents ideas and influences stakeholders to move ideas forward; facilitates discussions with peers on business challenges with focus on obtaining new perspectives and move beyond obstacles
  • Facilitates alignment among peers on intricate business challenges, fostering innovative thinking, and navigating through barriers
  • Shares stories of experience, providing opportunity for stretch assignments, and encouraging Associates to engage in developmental programs
  • Represents Business Development on cross-functional committees and projects


About You:
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in Retail Merchandising or Operations preferred
  • Post-secondary education in related field, e.g. Retail or Business Management or similar considered an asset
  • Good understanding of financial planning, business tools and reports to develop plans and interpret results
  • Demonstrated analytical and critical thinking skills to provide solutions; ability to leverage prior experience and adapt quickly to the changing work environment to make effective decisions
  • Customer focused and strong understanding of fashion, design and home décor; knowledge of the global and national retail landscape and market trends to develop strategies
  • Strong problem-solving skills including analysis of information; ability to handle complexity and ambiguity, identifying the core issue to solve problems effectively
  • Solid project management skills including structured project methodology (i.e., determining needs, researching existing programs, etc.); preparing and maintaining detailed development plans for projects; determining project specifications; understanding and applying principles of project control to launch and manage new initiatives and innovations
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to read, write, present and interpret information accurate; demonstrated facilitation, and negotiating skills, bilingualism, fluency in English and French, is a requirement (applies to Quebec BDM)
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to act as a collaborative partner with senior management and positively influence management and staff to act in the best interest of the Company
  • Ability to develop and build relationships within organization, influence team members and help prioritize activities and resources to meet the department needs; build rapport and credibility to be a trusted advisor
  • Good people management skills including coaching, providing advice and guidance to Associates in the resolution of problems, evaluating performance and providing feedback to team members
  • Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn/apply new technologies. Computer skills including MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
