I. Job Summary

WM is seeking a Business Development Manager to identify, develop, and execute growth opportunities across Quebec. This role will focus on creating meaningful customer relationships, developing strategic partnerships, supporting sustainability-focused solutions, and expanding WM's presence in emerging and evolving market segments.

The successful candidate will work closely with customers, prospects, industry stakeholders, and internal business partners to identify opportunities that drive long-term growth, strengthen customer relationships, and support WM's commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship.

This role requires a highly motivated business development professional who excels at building executive-level relationships, navigating complex business environments, and translating market opportunities into sustainable revenue growth.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Growth Strategy & Business Development
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities across targeted industries and market segments.
  • Build and maintain a pipeline of strategic growth opportunities aligned with company objectives.
  • Develop market strategies that support long-term expansion and customer retention.
  • Evaluate emerging business opportunities, industry trends, and partnership models to support future growth initiatives.
  • Support strategic projects that enhance market position and customer value.


Relationship Management
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with senior leaders, procurement teams, operations leaders, and key decision-makers.
  • Represent WM at industry associations, conferences, customer meetings, and community events.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to customers seeking innovative waste, recycling, resource recovery, and sustainability solutions.
  • Foster long-term partnerships that create value for customers and WM.


Strategic Partnerships
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with public and private sector stakeholders.
  • Support the development of commercial partnerships that expand market reach and customer access.
  • Participate in the evaluation of strategic alliances, growth initiatives, and business development opportunities.


Market Intelligence
  • Monitor market trends, regulatory developments, competitive activity, and customer needs.
  • Provide business insights and recommendations to support strategic decision making.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance service offerings and strengthen WM's competitive position.


Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Sustainability, Public Sector, Finance, and Customer Experience teams to develop integrated customer solutions.
  • Support complex customer opportunities from initial engagement through implementation.
  • Assist with business cases, proposals, presentations, and commercial negotiations.

  • 5+ years of business development, strategic sales, consulting, account management, or market development experience.
  • Proven ability to build executive-level relationships.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic and evolving environment.
  • Bilingual (French and English) required.

Pay: The expected base pay range for this remote position is $85,000 - $100,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. This position is for an existing vacancy.

In addition, this position is eligible for Bonus.
