Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION The Senior Business Development Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, market expansion, and strategic client development for Meso's preconstruction and technology-enabled construction solutions. This role serves as the primary market-facing leader responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities while advancing long-term strategic partnerships across corporate, education, healthcare, government, and commercial sectors.
The Senior Business Development Manager combines business development expertise with a strong understanding of preconstruction services, estimating, design-assist delivery, integrated project delivery, prefabrication, and modern construction technologies. Acting as a trusted advisor to owners, architects, designers, contractors, developers, and strategic partners, this individual influences projects during the earliest planning stages and positions Meso (and all OMNI brands) as the preferred preconstruction and construction solutions partner.
This role requires a highly entrepreneurial leader who is comfortable operating independently while collaborating across sales, estimating, operations, design, and project delivery teams to achieve aggressive growth objectives.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Growth & Business Development - In partnership with the General Manager, execute annual business development strategies, territory plans, and revenue growth initiatives aligned with company objectives.
- Identify, qualify, and pursue high-value opportunities within targeted market sectors.
- In collaboration with the General Manager, lead strategic opportunity pursuits through the complete sales cycle: identify, qualify, influence, propose, negotiate, and secure business.
- Develop relationships with owners, developers, architects, engineers, construction managers, general contractors, and key influencers.
- Position Meso's preconstruction and project delivery capabilities early in the project lifecycle to maximize win rates and profitability.
- Drive market awareness and establish Meso as a recognized leader in technology-enabled preconstruction and construction solutions.
- Represent the company at industry organizations, conferences, networking events, and trade associations.
Preconstruction Leadership - Collaborate with estimating, operations, engineering, and project teams to develop comprehensive preconstruction solutions.
- Lead strategic discussions related to budgeting, constructability, scheduling, risk mitigation, value engineering, and project delivery methods.
- Support clients and project teams throughout design development, budgeting, and procurement processes.
- Identify opportunities to incorporate innovative construction technologies, prefabrication, digital construction platforms, and integrated delivery solutions.
- Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends, labor markets, construction economics, procurement strategies, and emerging technologies.
Client Relationship Management - Build and maintain trusted relationships with key client decision-makers and industry influencers.
- Develop a deep understanding of clients' business objectives and project goals to provide consultative solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a seamless client experience from pursuit through project execution.
- Maintain active engagement with partners throughout project development and delivery.
Financial & Operational Accountability - In collaboration with the General Manager, develop sales forecasts, revenue projections, and growth strategies to achieve established targets.
- Monitor business development performance metrics and provide regular pipeline reporting.
- Support contract negotiation and commercial strategy discussions when appropriate.
- Work closely with leadership to evaluate market opportunities, expansion initiatives, and strategic investments.
- Contribute to annual planning, budgeting, and growth initiatives.
Leadership & Collaboration - Mentor and support business development, sales, and estimating professionals.
- Foster collaboration between business development, operations, design, estimating, and project management teams across all OMNI brands.
- Share market intelligence, competitive insights, emerging opportunities, and best practices across the organization.

Requirements
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 7+ years of business development, preconstruction, construction management, or related industry experience.
- Demonstrated success generating and closing complex commercial construction or building systems opportunities.
- Experience partnering with owners, architects, engineers, and general contractors.
- Strong knowledge of preconstruction services, estimating principles, budgeting, scheduling, and project delivery methods.
- Proven ability to manage high-level client relationships and executive stakeholders.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of project economics.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience with Falkbuilt, DIRTT, modular construction, prefabrication, or advanced building systems.
- Experience leading design-assist, design-build, or integrated project delivery pursuits.
- Existing network within architecture, commercial real estate, higher education, healthcare, or corporate markets.
- Familiarity with construction technology platforms, and virtual design processes.
- Experience leading market expansion initiatives.
- Knowledge of Steelcase, Falkbuilt, and commercial interiors project delivery environments.
- Experience with CRM systems, pipeline management, and sales forecasting.
