The Opportunity

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive business growth by identifying new opportunities, expanding our customer base, and increasing market share across our international freight forwarding and logistics services.

In this role, you will develop strategic customer relationships, generate new revenue, and promote Kintetsu World Express' comprehensive transportation and supply chain solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Generate new business opportunities while maintaining the existing client portfolio by serving as the primary point of contact for client inquiries and concerns. Ensure customer satisfaction through ongoing account management and retention efforts.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business plan and strategic sales approach for the Canadian sales team focused on Western Canada.
  • Coordinate and facilitate weekly, monthly, and annual Sales Meetings.
  • Present competitive pricing solutions to prospective clients and support sales staff in preparing for client presentations.
  • Drive growth across all areas of the Western Canada region, including shipment volume, tonnage, and gross profit across all transportation modes.
  • Track SENS activity and evaluate progress against established pipeline goals and objectives.
  • Provide leadership and support to departments within sales and customer service functions.
  • Communicate market capabilities and business opportunities to international offices.
  • Analyze and monitor market trends, conducting research to develop and recommend marketing strategies that enhance brand awareness and strengthen the corporate image.
  • Mentor and support all sales staff by assisting with work assignments and contributing to their professional development and performance improvement when required.
  • Promote customer retention by overseeing and monitoring communications between staff and clients.
  • Lead and encourage proactive team initiatives aimed at achieving departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Report any unsafe conditions or activities to the supervisor and/or Human Resources department.
  • Demonstrate leadership by setting a positive example and sharing knowledge, expertise, and skills with others.
  • Carry out all other job-related responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President, Sales.


What You Bring

  • Formal Academic training in International Business or related field and 5 + years' experience within international/3PL sales; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of international shipping terms, Bill of Lading procedures, air cargo documentation, liabilities and insurance.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customer, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and presentations.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or board of directors.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, Power Point, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.


Compensation: Salary range starting from $95,000 to $105,000 per year, with opportunities for growth and advancement based on performance and contribution.
