Full Job Description

The Business Development Manager (BDM) You will focus on identifying new business opportunities, increasing market share within existing accounts, and providing support to the TSM's. The BDM also contributes in strengthening SEM's presence across the automotive refinish, body shop, commercial, and retail channels. Reporting directly to the Regional Sales Manager, you will develop the Georgia and South Carolina markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Development: identify, pursue, negotiate, and plan with new accounts

  • Account Management: develop and implement an account management plan using PPG resources (products, value services), emphasizing continuous improvement, business relations and value as main ingredients.

  • Field Sales Development: mentor sales staff to secure potential regional strategic accounts

  • Competitive Awareness: understand competitors, their offerings (products and services) and develop counter measures

  • Industry Awareness: maintain account target list with profiles; identify industry trends & develop programs to meet needs such trends may demand (e- commerce, insurance companies, CDN)

  • Conduct regular business reviews with distributors and multi-shop/body shop groups to evaluate performance and identify growth actions.

  • Expected overnight travel of 60%.

  • Through PPG's Fixed and Variable Rate (FAVR) program, you'll have the flexibility to drive your own vehicle while receiving tax-advantaged reimbursement for fuel, insurance, and other eligible business-related vehicle expenses. The program is designed to provide a convenient, cost-effective alternative to a company vehicle while giving you greater choice and flexibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in sales, business development, or category management within automotive refinish, industrial distribution, or related markets.

  • Experience establishing communication and engagement with prospects.

  • Experience discerning whether a prospect is a good fit for a product based on discovery conversations and problem‑solving capabilities.

  • Experience using a CRM software system.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain automobile insurance, have access to a personal vehicle that meets PPG's Fixed and Variable Rate (FAVR) program requirements, and successfully pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
