Job Summary

The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for developing and executing growth strategies across the Eastern and Western United States. This role is focused on long-term revenue generation, strategic partnerships, and expanding US Traffic Control's presence within utility, infrastructure, roadway construction, and industrial service markets.

This is a high-visibility role requiring a strategic, relationship-driven professional who can identify new business opportunities, secure master service agreements, develop key accounts, and position US Traffic Control as the preferred provider for utility contractors, municipalities, transportation agencies, and infrastructure construction firms.

Candidates must be based in or near Athens, Georgia, and able to travel extensively throughout assigned East and West Coast territories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute business development strategies to drive growth across East and West Coast markets.
  • Identify, pursue, and secure Master Service Agreements (MSAs), preferred vendor agreements, and strategic partnerships.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with utility companies, infrastructure contractors, transportation agencies, municipalities, and industrial service organizations.
  • Generate new business opportunities through prospecting, networking, industry events, and relationship management.
  • Lead and support RFP, RFQ, and bid response efforts to ensure competitive and compliant submissions.
  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify growth opportunities and industry trends.
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to align customer demand with service capabilities and operational resources.
  • Develop account penetration strategies designed to increase market share and profitability.
  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasting through CRM systems.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade associations, customer meetings, and contractor networking events throughout assigned territories.
  • Partner with senior leadership to support expansion into new geographic markets and service lines.


Requirements

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of business development, sales, or account management experience within one or more of the following industries:
    • Utilities
    • Infrastructure construction
    • Road and highway construction
    • Traffic control
    • Industrial services
    • Blue-collar workforce or field service organizations
  • Proven track record of generating revenue growth and establishing strategic customer relationships.
  • Strong experience negotiating contracts, service agreements, and long-term partnerships.
  • Demonstrated success selling into utility providers, municipalities, general contractors, engineering firms, or transportation agencies.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar systems.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple markets and priorities.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and ability to qualify as a company driver.


Preferred Experience
  • Existing relationships within utility, roadway, infrastructure, transportation, or industrial service industries.
  • Experience supporting utility construction, power distribution, telecom, gas, water, or transportation projects.
  • Experience working with DOT agencies, municipalities, public works departments, or large infrastructure contractors.
  • Knowledge of traffic control, work zone safety, roadway operations, or infrastructure maintenance services.
  • Experience building and growing territories across multiple states.
  • Familiarity with blue-collar service-based organizations and field operations.


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the Eastern and Western United States.
  • Ability to drive and fly for extended periods as required.
  • Ability to visit active construction sites and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25-30 pounds.
  • Ability to attend customer meetings, industry events, and field visits in varying weather conditions.
