Business Development Manager - Energy

Target Location:

Houston Area - remote office with frequent travel to customers

Responsible for driving new business growth in the Energy industry across the Americas market, with a specific focus on Oil & Gas and Cryogenic sectors.

This role requires a hunter mentality-actively identifying opportunities, building strong customer relationships, and winning new opportunities. The BDM will manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing and collaborate with internal teams to deliver material solutions that address customer pain points.

Proven experience in business development or technical sales with a strong network within Oil Service Companies and their strategic suppliers. Specific supply chain and product knowledge of components such as valves, seals, connectors, and related systems is critical.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Deliver annual business development pipeline quotas: new build, commercialized wins, and actual sales to new business
  • Demonstrate grit, consistency, and accountability to the customer
  • Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to deliver value
  • Conduct discovery meetings with prospects and existing customers to uncover needs, wants, and pain points
  • Drive lead generation through proactive prospecting at trade shows, LinkedIn, personal e-mail campaigns, industry associations, etc.
  • Diligence and accuracy in pipeline management within CE tools - ensuring opportunities progress as promised and to forecast
  • Execute the agreed strategy while remaining opportunistic and curious to identify new opportunities outside the defined strategy
  • Identifying key stakeholders and decision makers throughout the account's organization, at all levels and across functions in order to create long term strategically aligned partnership.
  • Convert incoming leads into qualified opportunities
  • Negotiating Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Letter Of Intents (LOIs), and Joint Development Agreements (JDAs) and driving Sales Agreements discussion (or supporting it when buying accounts are owned by another Sales Account Manager).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Supply Chain, Marketing, Legal, and Customer Service
  • Provide the voice of the customer back to the organization to influence strategy and opportunities for translation


Experience & Skills:
  • In depth working knowledge of the Energy Industry
  • Hunter's mentality with proven success in new business development
  • Working knowledge of technical polymers and applications
  • Ability to influence decision-makers at all levels
  • Skilled in creating commercial proposals based on technical value propositions
