Full Job Description
This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the levels posted, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise.

Market Northern's throughput services in the Field Area to secure incremental supply availability into Northern's system and generate incremental revenue through market development and retention. In addition, as an employee of the field area business development team you will be directly involved in all aspects of the commercial project development from securing customers to coordinating the evaluation of the facilities required to provide transportation services. The role will also include the direct account management activities for all aspects of customer's business. Formulate service strategies and objectives to maintain existing customers and attract new customers. Secure long-term business relationships and contracts. Direct the preparation of contracts, and ensure contracts reflect intended agreement and specifications. Champion customer needs and be the internal advocate to ensure a customer-focused team environment. Promote Northern's outstanding customer service by demonstrating superior internal and external professionalism and responsiveness.

Responsibilities

Proactively market company services to existing and potential customers.

Analyze customer's business to derive optimal business arrangement between customer and company.

Negotiate and structure complex agreements for transportation or storage services, having a complete understanding of market trends, needs and competitive alternatives.

Facilitate market expansion projects to meet customer and company objectives.

Responsibility for increasing revenue generation from assigned customers.

Actively develop and maintain market intelligence regarding alternate supply and market prices and conditions.

Ensure that Northern Natural Gas is responsive to customers and assist them in their effective utilization of company's system.

Play a lead role in development of project planning.

Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning.

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, business administration or related field; or equivalent work experience. (Typically four years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)

Eight years of related marketing experience in energy industry.

Working knowledge of the Permian and mid-continent pipeline grid. Strong negotiation, presentation and human relations skills.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Knowledge of market strategies. Knowledge of alternate fuel pricing and alternate pipeline opportunities.

Ability to develop innovative solutions to energy needs under loosely defined parameters.

Ability to work under stressful conditions and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Willingness to travel.
