Full Job Description
The Business Development Consultant is the field-based front door to the Business Development Group, responsible for helping advisors in their region identify their greatest growth opportunities and driving those opportunities through to execution. Based in the region and traveling frequently to branches, the Business Development Consultant builds trusted relationships with advisors and branch leaders and serves as their primary point of contact and quarterback for growth.

This role owns the advisor relationship from initial engagement through the execution of growth initiatives - diagnosing opportunities, shaping a practical growth plan, personally executing core growth work, and coordinating the right firm resources and specialists when deeper expertise is needed. The Business Development Consultant partners closely with Revenue Operations, the specialist coaches, Regional Directors, and branch management to turn opportunity into measurable growth.

What you are good at:
  • Building Relationships: drive organic growth, holistic advice centered around financial planning, increase practice efficiency through technology, as well as support teaming and succession strategies
  • Organization: Strong organization skills and ability to effectively coordinate training sessions, roundtables, events, onboarding recruits, and supporting advisors through teaming & succession transitions
  • Educating: You enjoy educating and helping others learn new things to achieve success
  • Team Oriented: Consultants work closely with the Regional Business Development Coach, Regional Manager and subject matter experts in their territory to deliver a team-based approach to servicing the field

Responsibilities:

  • Live in the assigned region and travel frequently to branches to work directly with advisors and branch leaders on driving growth outcomes.
  • Build trusted, ongoing relationships across the region and serve as the advisor's primary point of contact and quarterback for growth.
  • Review advisor books, surface the highest-value opportunities, and help advisors set growth goals and build a clear, actionable plan.
  • Own and execute core growth work end to end - including on-site quick wins such as client segmentation, pricing discussions, and opportunity entry in Salesforce when appropriate.
  • Personally drive opportunities from identification through execution and conversion, engaging specialists only when depth or specialized work is required.
  • Route advisors to the right firm resources and coordinate end-to-end support and growth strategies across the organization.
  • Serve as the ongoing relationship owner - following up, holding advisors accountable to commitments, and keeping momentum on the plan.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the firm's growth programs, planning, advisory, and technology resources, and connect advisors to the appropriate partner or specialist.
  • Use opportunity reports, book reviews, and analytics from Revenue Operations to proactively target the advisors and branches with the greatest potential.
  • Represent the voice of the advisor back to the organization, informing programs, tools, and best practices.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Five or more years of experience in wealth management, financial services, or a related field, with exposure to advisor-facing sales, business development, or practice growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and sell - building credibility with advisors and moving them to action without direct authority.
  • Working knowledge of the wealth management business, including growth levers such as new-household acquisition, existing-household growth, advisory, and financial planning.
  • Strong relationship-management skills and the ability to build trust quickly across branches and regions.
  • Willingness and ability to live in the assigned region and travel frequently to branches.
  • Organized, self-directed, and results-oriented, with the ability to manage many advisor relationships and opportunities at once.
  • Comfort with data, CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce), and translating analytics into practical advisor action.
  • Series 7 and 66 (or equivalent) preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
