Full Job Description

Automotive and Durable Goods Financing (ADGF) provides lending solutions to more than 3,000 automotive and durable-goods dealers across Canada and finances over 100,000 units annually. As a Business Development Advisor, you will manage an assigned portfolio of dealers, develop and maintain strong business relationships, and promote financing products and services tailored to client needs. You will be accountable for maintaining and increasing retail-volume referrals and meeting or exceeding annual targets. By combining persuasive communication, sound risk management, and strong business acumen, you will help dealers implement effective solutions, convert credit applications into members and clients, and deliver a high-quality client experience. You will work with current and prospective clients whose needs are complex and diverse and whose business offers significant development potential. You will analyze their needs, recommend personalized strategies, negotiate agreements, and monitor results, profitability, service quality, and satisfaction. Mores specifically, you will be responsible to:

  • Manage an assigned portfolio of automotive and durable-goods dealers and maintain productive, long-term business relationships.

  • Meet with dealers to present and sell current pricing and financing offers.

  • Maintain and grow retail-volume referrals and meet or exceed annual business-development targets.

  • Assess member and client needs, recommend suitable solutions or strategies, and agree on targeted results.

  • Advise clients on the development, execution, implementation, and follow-up of mandates and financing solutions.

  • Promote the advantages of doing business with Desjardins and help convert credit applications into members and clients.

  • Identify and share market opportunities, trends, and best practices with dealers.

  • Collect and analyze information and prepare reports and recommendations.

  • Monitor portfolio performance, profitability, risk, service quality, and client satisfaction; complete follow-ups and implement improvements as needed.

  • Negotiate agreements with dealers and other practitioners while balancing sales objectives, prudent risk management, profitability, and client satisfaction.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline

  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience, including managing and maintaining business relationships

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Advanced sales experience in the automotive and/or durable-goods sector

  • Advanced proficiency of English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

  • Advanced knowledge of the automotive and durable-goods market, including ATVs, recreational vehicles, motorcycles, boats, and snowmobiles

  • Knowledge of banking systems and financing products

  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle for frequent travel, approximately 80% within the Greater Toronto Area, to meet with partners
