Description

Business Analyst Project Manager (US - Washington DC)

Position summary

This is a surge support position through January 15, 2026. Extension is possible but not guaranteed. The position is hybrid, with the office in Washington, DC, supporting a federal client and requires an active public trust or better clearance. Remote candidates will be considered.

Sikich seeks an experienced Technical Business Analyst and Project Manager to support a federal client infrastructure operations team through dual capabilities: (1) assessing technical and operational workflows to identify automation and AI opportunities, and (2) managing multiple infrastructure and cloud migration initiatives from planning through delivery.

This hybrid role combines process improvement analysis with project delivery coordination. You will assess the team's technical and business processes, document workflows and dependencies, identify gaps and bottlenecks, recommend improvements, manage project schedules and risks, remove delivery roadblocks, and communicate status to leadership. You will work closely with engineering staff, project sponsors, and program leadership to improve service delivery, reduce manual effort, accelerate cloud migration timelines, and create measurable gains in productivity and operational outcomes.

This role requires United States citizenship and a Public Trust. Preference is given to candidates located in the National Capital Region, including Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

What will you do in this role?

You will combine business analysis and project management to drive infrastructure modernization and operational improvements:

Analysis & Process Improvement
  • Map and document existing technical and business processes, identifying inefficiencies and automation candidates
  • Partner with engineering staff to validate findings and help implement approved recommendations
  • Advise on adoption of Microsoft 365 tools, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot, and related AI capabilities
  • Develop measurements to report on productivity and outcome improvements resulting from changes
  • Produce detailed technical and business process workflow documentation

Project Delivery & Coordination
  • Manage multiple infrastructure projects from planning through delivery
  • Develop and maintain integrated schedules, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, action items, and decision logs
  • Manage Jira tickets and Confluence pages for assigned projects and ensure project documentation remains current
  • Facilitate meetings, document discussions and decisions, assign follow-up actions, and remove delivery roadblocks
  • Support adoption and refinement of agile and SAFe practices in an infrastructure operations environment
  • Aggregate technical inputs and publish concise status reports for client and company leadership
  • Create, edit, review, and coordinate formal project deliverables and presentation materials

What do you need to succeed in this role?
  • Empathy, patience and professionalism when working directly with end users, including the ability to explain technical steps clearly over remote sessions.
  • Sound judgment to ask for help, appropriate escalation of issues, and the ability to provide enough technical detail for senior administrators to act quickly.
  • Basic Excel proficiency for tracking device lists, remediation status, deployment results, and issue trends.
  • Ticketing system literacy, with ServiceNow and/or JIRA experience helpful but trainable on the job.

Desired Qualifications:

Required background includes hands-on experience in both of the following areas:

Business Analysis & Process Improvement:
  • 8+ years' experience in project management
  • 7+ years' experience in process analysis, documentation, and process improvement
  • 4+ years' hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Power Platform, and AI capabilities (Power Apps, Power Automate, Copilot)
  • Demonstrated experience documenting current-state and future-state workflows, facilitating working sessions with technical and business stakeholders, developing process maps and standard operating procedures, and translating findings into actionable recommendations
  • Experience in federal government, regulated, or enterprise IT environments

Project Management & Delivery:
  • 8+ years' total information technology experience
  • 7+ years' experience managing complex IT projects
  • 5+ years' experience in a client-facing role
  • 2+ years' experience supporting federal government or government-contracting environments
  • Demonstrated infrastructure and/or cloud project management experience
  • Hands-on, current experience with Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Project, Visio, and Microsoft Office

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $135,000-$145,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.

In addition, successful candidates will bring a service-oriented mindset, clear communication, sound troubleshooting judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively with technical teams and end users in a remote federal client environment.
  • Servant Leader - You are hyper focused on engaging employees, fostering their development, and building a positive culture.
  • Solutions Focused - You see opportunities in every business problem and can develop, articulate, and implement solutions.
  • Collaboration - You are a relationship builder across all levels of the organization and across all business units.
  • Instills Trust - You do what you say, and you follow through on commitments, you act with integrity, you are consistent and are perceived as credible.
