We are looking for a Lead Business Analyst, focusing on Workday Security & Administration.
The Lead Business Analyst, Workday Security & Administration will serve as a key functional and technical partner supporting the design, governance, administration, and continuous improvement of the Workday security model. This role will collaborate closely with HRIS, IT, business stakeholders, and project teams to ensure Workday access, roles, security configuration, authentication controls, and system changes are aligned with business needs, compliance expectations, and operational best practices.
This position requires a strong business analyst foundation, enterprise-level thinking, and the ability to lead through ambiguity.
The Lead Business Analyst is expected to work independently under general guidance, exercise sound judgment, and provide nonsupervisory technical leadership across projects, process improvements, and system administration activities.
Position Details- Collaborate with the HRIS team, IT partners, and business stakeholders to design, govern, and continuously improve the Workday security model.
- Collaborate with the HRIS team and internal IT group to configure, maintain, and support Workday security settings, roles, domains, business process security, and user-based access controls. Follow the HR : IT collaboration and governance model to implement security changes.
- Manage user access and authentication controls to ensure appropriate system access based on role, responsibility, and business need.
- Review, assess, and manage Workday system changes, including software releases, configuration updates, and security-related impacts.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, analyze, and document business requirements, security requirements, process impacts, and system administration needs.
- Create and maintain configuration documentation, access control matrices, and security administration procedures.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Workday Security & Administration and act as a point of contact for assigned business areas and system-related questions.
- Lead standard security-related enhancement efforts.
- Partner with HRIS, IT, vendors, consultants, and business leaders to resolve complex security administration issues.
- Support change management efforts by helping stakeholders understand security model changes, access impacts, release updates, and process changes.
- Manage or coordinate work performed by contractors and consultants in the area of system administration and security, escalating risks, complex resource or delivery concerns to management as needed.
- Liaise with business leaders and serve as a trusted business relationship partner for Workday-related security and administration needs.
Qualifications - Four-year degree in Human Resources, Information & Technology or applicable experience in a similar field.
- Minimum of 6+ years of progressive responsibility in a business analyst, solutions analyst, systems analyst, HRIS, Workday, or related technology role.
- 2+ years of resource management, consultant coordination, or project workstream leadership experience preferred.
- Experience supporting Workday Security, Workday Administration, HRIS operations, access management, system configuration, release management, or related HR technology administration strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience configuring or supporting Workday security roles, domains, business process security, user-based security groups, and access controls.
- Experience partnering with HRIS, Payroll, Benefits, Talent, IT, Compliance, and business stakeholders.
- Experience supporting Workday releases, regression testing, security testing, change impact analysis, and post-release validation.
- Experience documenting security processes, access control procedures, role design decisions, and system administration standards.
- Familiarity with audit support, access reviews, segregation of duties considerations, and identity/access management processes.
- Excellent technical verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, HRIS, business users, vendors, and leadership.
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex business process and technology issues and recommend practical security solutions.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, concurrent projects, release activities, access requests, and system administration responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise-level process architecture and the ability to understand how system security impacts downstream business processes.
- Strong knowledge of organizational readiness planning, especially as it relates to system changes, security updates, and user adoption.
- Advanced knowledge of Workday security administration.
- Strong experience developing partnerships across business and IT functions.
- Ability to influence business decisions by translating security requirements, risks, and system impacts into clear business terms.
- Ability to delegate or coordinate work with junior resources, contractors, or consultants when needed.
- Ability to operate both tactically and strategically, balancing day-to-day security administration with long-term governance and process improvement.
- Strong understanding of data query, data models, data manipulation, and business reporting concepts.
- Strong experience working with data and business reporting to support access reviews, audit requests, security validation, and operational decision-making.

Pay: Final pay is determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For (Colorado/New York City/California/Washington/Maryland/Virginia/DC) this ranges from $102,000.00 - $175,000.00 plus annual incentive, benefits, and retirement program as outlined above.
