This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full time Building Technology Systems - Lead Consultant - Structured Cabling for our Chicago office.

About the Job:

Our staff work on high-quality, high-profile, local, national and international projects. You will actively participate in the complete project cycle, from the design phase through the final construction close-out. WSP offers excellent growth opportunities. Many of our senior leaders started out as young engineers in our firm. Our Engineers are subject matter experts who can effectively communicate and coordinate technical topics with owners, architects, other engineers, contractors and vendors.

This is a hybrid role. Candidate must be able to commute to the Chicago office approximately 1-2 days a week. In office presence shall be dictated by client and site needs. Ability and willingness to travel nationally and occasionally internationally based on client and business needs.
Your Impact
  • Provide design and coordination for Structured Cabling systems (Telecom cabling systems, Telecom spaces and pathway infrastructure). Project verticals include but not limited to: financial services, healthcare, corporate, residential, stadium and large venue, mission critical/data center, education and government/federal.
  • Collaborate with clients and design team members to gather and document system and design requirements.
  • Coordinate integration of other technology and building systems within the structured cabling design.
  • Create design narratives and coordinated, construction documents (Drawings and CSI Specifications).
  • Coordinate, host and participate in project meetings (local and out-of-town) with the design team and clients.
  • Review and respond to Technology system submittals and RFIs using industry standard digital platforms (Procore, Newforma, ACC, etc.).
  • Perform site surveys to document construction progress and create field reports.
  • Manage project financials and resources to complete deliverables including technical staff and drawing production staff on budget.
  • Market our capabilities across all business lines.
  • Develop and foster client relationships to win and retain new work.
  • Review and respond to requests for proposals include proposal writing and fee formulation.
  • Lead a team of consultants to deliver projects from inception to completion consistently producing high quality work to support our clients.
  • Mentor and develop junior staff both technically and professionally.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • A four-year degree (B.S. in engineering is preferred) or equivalent combination of technical degree and related work experience designing technology systems for buildings.
  • Seven plus years' experience actively designing complex structured cabling systems for the AEC consulting and engineering industry in general.
  • RCDD Industry certification preferred but not required.
  • Possess a deep knowledge of structured cabling design principles and associated coordination requirements with other trades.
  • Familiarity with Revit capabilities and basic operational abilities are required.
  • Highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Understanding of local and national codes and industry standards (NEC, IBC, NFPA, BICSI, EIA/TIA) related to the design and operation of Telecommunications systems.
  • Proven ability to market services, win work, and manage a team of consultants that will consistently deliver high quality work to support our clients.
  • Comfortable in a client facing role coordinating with developers, architects and building owners.
  • U.S. Security clearance or the ability to obtain a U.S. Security clearance is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on the ability to organize and present design information to technical and non-technical team members.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Compensation:

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $115,000 - $160,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
