IBEW Local 254Building Operator Facilities - Substations ENMAX CorporationPosting Date: July 3, 2026Posting Closes: July 16, 2026Purpose: PermanentUnion: IBEWShift: Regular Days: 7:00 am - 4:00 pmNote: More than one position may be filledInternal "Process A"Reporting to the Team Lead, Substation Building Operations, the Building Operator works at assigned substations(s) performing preventative and on-demand maintenance tasks as well as overseeing third party maintenance activities.
Responsibilities:- Carry out day-to-day preventative maintenance tasks to ensure uninterrupted building services for ENMAX substations.
- Respond to service requests and work orders as required while ensuring completed work meets high-quality expectations on time.
- Oversee third-party preventative and corrective maintenance activities related to plumbing, HVAC, electrical, fire suppression, fire alarm, roofing, landscaping, snow control, hardscape, and security to ensure completion of work to expected standards.
- Complete minor preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, and small repairs within competency level.
- Perform basic facility cleaning.
- Conduct substation site inspections to maintain the properties' general condition, appearance, security, and safety, remedying any deficiencies and documenting these inspections where directed.
- Participate in project meetings.
- Monitor and adjust automated systems, including electrical, lighting, security, HVAC, plumbing, fire alarm, and building management system.
- Ensure all buildings comply with Municipal, Provincial, and Federal Legislation and ENMAX policies, procedures, and guidelines related to operations, environmental, health, and safety.
- Provide timely stakeholder communication, escalating issues and challenges as required.
- Other duties as assigned by the building operations management team.
- Must be available to work on-call/standby after regular business hours and respond to emergency calls to provide sufficient building coverage on a rotational schedule.
- Adhere to the Province of Alberta, ENMAX Corporation, A.E.U.C. (Alberta Electrical Utility Code) and Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations.
- Ensure proper care and use of vehicles, equipment, and work sites.
Qualifications & Experience:- Must have a proven safety record and thorough knowledge of Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safe Work Practices (SWPs)
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1-2 years of previous experience in building operations, including experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building management systems, fire life safety systems, voice and data systems, and building envelope.
- 5th Class Power Engineering Certificate with ABSA required.
- Class 5 driver's license with no more than 6 demerits
- Participate in a weekly rotating on-call schedule, and report to emergency call outs as required.

- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook & Word.), computer maintenance management software (CMMS), and accounting systems.
