Your Opportunity + Impact

The Bridge Safety Inspection Team Leader will be responsible for performing bridge safety inspections and other structure related inspections in accordance with NBIS and PennDOT Pub 238. This position will work closely with the Project Manager to ensure all inspections, budgets, and quality of work are being met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspects structures in accordance with NBIS and Pub 238.
  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating inspection crews to complete inspections, reports, and reviews.
  • evaluates the conditions of structures, identifies deficiencies and makes proper repair recommendations for those issues identified, and properly codes the structure in i-forms.
  • Records and maintains records of conditions of structures using i-forms and BMS2.
  • Conducts client meetings (i.e. Township Supervisors, Road Masters) to advise on the conditions of structures.
  • Utilizes hand tools to remove defective materials to properly evaluate conditions on individual parts of a structure.
  • Uses ladders, hydraulic man-lifts, and under-bridge cranes to access portions of structures that are otherwise inaccessible.
  • Uses measuring devices and non-destructive testing methods.
  • Summarizes field data and performs load rating analyses.
  • Compiles analyses and recommendations for Bridge Load Posting Summary.
  • Oversees and directs sub-contractors for traffic control and rigging.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to team assistants to complete accurate and concise evaluations of structural conditions.

Education and Experience
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field strongly preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years' experience in bridge inspection.
  • Licensures/Certifications: CBSI certification required. Valid Drivers License required. Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet project deadlines effectively.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a project team.
