Full Job Description
Farnsworth Group is seeking a Bridge Project Engineer in the posting location(s) below. In this role, you will be a key individual within a client-focused, technically excellent, Transportation Structural Engineering team that serves local and nationwide clients in the support of multiple design projects.

Posting Locations: Champaign, Effingham, Normal, or Peoria, IL

What You'll Do:
  • Perform bridge inspections, write bridge condition reports, and prepare bridge load rating computations.
  • Perform structural planning, analysis, and design for all structural aspects of transportation projects.
  • Work on projects that typically include bridge (steel plate girders, prestressed concrete, reinforced concrete), box culverts, retaining walls, and interchange design for highway and railway projects.
  • Project management (scope, schedule, budget, and quality) on small to mid-sized projects.
  • Visit project sites to perform bridge inspections and verify existing conditions during design.
  • Coordinate with other technical engineering disciplines.


What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's in Civil Engineering with a focus on Structural Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • 4-10 years of bridge engineering experience
  • Proven hands-on experience in aspects of bridge design projects.
  • Experience using structural analysis programs and bridge design software.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and ability to work with various teams.
  • Project management skills desirable.
  • Experience working with DOT, Tollway Facility, and/or Local Agency Bridge projects.


Nice to Haves:
  • Master's in Structural Engineering
  • Licensed Illinois Structural Engineer (SE)
  • Experience working on IDOT and ISTHA bridge projects
  • Familiarity with engineering software packages such as: MicroStation, OpenBridge Designer Connect Edition (LEAP Bridge Steel, LEAP Bridge Concrete, RM Bridge, etc.), LEAP CONSYS, LPile, Erikkson Culvert, AASHTOWare BrR, RISA-3D, SPW911, Mathcad/Mathcad Prime, Enercalc, or BlueBeam

Salary Range: $85,000-$125,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, as well as internal and external equity)
