Position: Principal, Brass Castle SchoolPosition SummaryThe Board of Education seeks an experienced, student-centered instructional leader to serve as Principal of Brass Castle School. The successful candidate will lead daily school operations, support high-quality instruction, and build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
Because of the district's size, administrators often hold more than one area of responsibility. Candidates with a strong background in special education, including experience leading or working closely with a Child Study Team, are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities- Provide instructional leadership, including curriculum implementation, data analysis, and support for evidence-based practices
- Supervise and evaluate certificated and non-certificated staff in accordance with district policy and AchieveNJ
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe school climate for all learners
- Oversee student behavior, attendance, and family engagement
- Collaborate with the Child Study Team, RTI, and 504 teams to ensure appropriate services and compliance for students with disabilities
- Participate in IEP meetings and support inclusive programming and least restrictive environment practices
- Implement the School Safety and Security Plan, including drills and emergency procedures
- Manage school schedules, building operations, and the school-level budget
- Work collaboratively with the Superintendent, Port Colden School administration, and district leadership on district-wide initiatives
Required Qualifications- New Jersey Principal Certificate (or Certificate of Eligibility / Certificate of Eligibility with Advanced Standing)
- Master's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of five years of successful educational experience
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsMaster's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field
Preferred Qualifications- Working knowledge of N.J.A.C. 6A:14, IEP development, and special education compliance
- Elementary administrative experience
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional best practices, and assessment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and public speaking skills
- Proficiency in educational technology and data management systems
- Experience in a small district where leaders take on multiple roles
Start Date: On or about February 1, 2027
