Overview

Intsel Steel, a division of Triple-S Steel, is seeking an experienced and dynamic candidate for our Branch Manager role in Commerce City, CO. The Branch Manager role is key to he succuess of the overall branch. The manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operations, sales, and performance of designated branch. The manager is expected to drive business growth, achieve sales targets, manage the branch’s financial performance, and ensure excellent service to our valued customers. Additionally, the Branch Manager will be responsible for leading and developing a team of employees while fostering a positive work environment and upholding Triple-S Steel values and standards.

 

The Branch Manager will report directly to the Regional VP. They will work in conjunction with the Sales, Purchasing, and Finance teams to establish and attain targets in Sales, Gross Profit, Inventory levels and inventory accuracy.

Salary: $125,000.000 to $175,000.00 + incentive

Responsibilities
  • Safety of all employees - Includes active participation in the Corporate Safety committee monthly meetings.Collaborates with Operations Manager and Regional Safety Manager on metrics to improve safety around facility. Leads by example in ensuring the branch adheres to all health and safety regulations, promoting a safe working environment for all employees and visitors.
  • HR and Performance evaluations 6 Establishes clear performance appraisals, monitors progress, and provides regular feedback to team members. Assuring any raises that are approved and signed off for employees must be within corporate budgets. Coordinates with HR manager to ensure compliance within company policies and relevant HR Guidelines and Laws.
  • Business Development 6 Regularly communicates and works with the VP Sales to identify and capture new accounts in both the geographic area and the area of the branch expertise. The Outside Sales Representative(s) assigned to the branch will report directly to the VP Sales, but will develop planning and strategy in conjunction with the Branch Manager
  • Sales 6Become proficient in our sales and quoting process and have knowledge when we must be competitive. Help maintain price book and communication with the sales team.
  • Quality 6 Ensures plant and equipment is clean, maintained and organized. Does so by regularly walking the plant and communicating with employees. Coordinates with VP of quality on metrics to improve quality.
  • Productivity 6 Ensures a productive workforce. Uses relevant and consistent metrics to measure (i.e. financials, pick count, OT reports, production reports, etc.) as designed and directed by the Division Controller
  • P&L 6 Responsible for the profitability of the branch and the productive and safe use of the branch assets
  • Credit 6 Must operate within the AMM for credit approval; including documenting rationale when exercising authority. Coordinates with Credit Manager to nurture team credit decisions.
  • Inventory 6 Accountable to manage total inventory under management within the limits established by the General Manager consistent with industry lead times and anticipated customer demand. Uses appropriate tools to forecast inventory levels to avoid surprises and/or warns management in advance of problems. The manager will be responsible for coordination of purchasing between branch and regional buyers.
  • Expense management 6 In accordance with annual financial plan and AAM approves all expenses of the branch and uses prudence and good judgment. Draws upon corporate buying programs and ensures good communication before approving large expenses.
  • Capex 6 Operates within annual or special budget allocations. Draws upon corporate buying programs and ensures good communication before approving large expenses. Relies on HQ for help in negotiations or delegates to HQ for purchase. (i.e. VP operations in HOU purchases all burning machines)
  • Profit Sharing Meetings 6 conducts quarterly profit sharing or town hall meetings (when no profit sharing). Communicates branch performance and market conditions with branch employees.
  • Best practices 6 adopts best practices with other branches when possible to bring about continuity throughout the organization.
  • Leadership 6 has authority to hire personnel within the budgets adopted and approved by management. Ensures that company hiring policy (reference and background checks) are adhered to. Has authority to terminate within the guidelines of corporate HR department. Should seek guidance from HR Department in performance related issues prior to termination versus egregious violations of company policies. Work with management on the training and development of all new staff while collaborating with the managers on how to improve retention rates.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor6s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Industrial Distribution, or Operations Management, or five years of progressive management experience in the Metals Distribution Industry 6 with focus on the structural/construction markets. MBA is preferred
  • Proven experience in a managerial role within the steel industry, preferably in sales or operations, is a plus.
  • Financial management and budgeting skills are required.
  • Strong knowledge of the steel market, industry trends and customer needs
  • Business acumen and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
