Summary

The Division of Examinations is seeking a Supervisory Attorney Adviser, SK-0905-15 in the Technology Controls Program (TCP) and will be located in one of the following locations: Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA; Miami, FL; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA or Washington, DC.

As a Branch Chief, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for conducting examinations of entities subject to Regulation Systems Compliance and Integrity (SCI).

If selected, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for supporting EXAMS' mission to conduct and coordinate technology focused examinations of Commission registrants.

In this role as a Branch Chief, you will be responsible for:

• Supervising and managing staff within the Branch including providing administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit;
• Supervising the planning and conducting of IT security audits of financial industry participants;
• Providing expert advice and guidance on broad projects and programs with national impact related to the SEC's Technology Controls Program; and
• Providing authoritative guidance related to the regulations governing securities industry IT governance and security programs.

• SUPERVISORY TRIAL PERIOD: This appointment may require completion of a two year supervisory/managerial trial period.
• If selected, you may receive a salary increase for the duration of the temporary promotion. You will be returned to your original salary at the end of the appointment.
• The selectee is required to report to the duty station(s) listed.
• Typical Examiner Travel: Examination staff routinely travel to the offices of registered entities to conduct on-site inspections of facilities, to meet with and interview entity personnel, and to examine certain business records.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must also meet the minimum qualification requirement.

SK-15: Applicant must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS/SK-13 level. Specialized experience includes:

1. Providing legal advice on issues related to the rules and policies of Federal securities laws and acts relating to self-regulatory exchanges, broker-dealers, or investment advisers; AND
2. Developing recommendations and/or reports of findings while interacting with executive management, co-workers, and members of the securities industry to resolve issues; AND
3. Leading a team that is responsible for deploying, supporting, or auditing technology solutions employed in the securities market.

SEC COMPENSATION PROGRAM: Total salary (base pay + locality) is dependent upon duty location. The overall salary range listed above is provided for informational purposes. The pay for current SEC employees will be determined according to the procedures specified in the agency's policy.
