Job Description Summary:AdventHealth Medical Group is seeking an experienced and compassionate Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our Bone Health program in Tampa, Florida.
The Bone Health APRN will work collaboratively with physicians and the multidisciplinary care team to evaluate, treat, and manage patients with osteoporosis, osteopenia, fragility fractures, and other conditions affecting bone health. This position plays an important role in fracture prevention, patient education, long-term disease management, and coordination of comprehensive bone health services.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in osteoporosis prevention and treatment, musculoskeletal health, and chronic disease management and will be committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centered care.
Job Description: Key Responsibilities - Conduct comprehensive clinical evaluations of patients referred for osteoporosis, osteopenia, fragility fractures, and other bone health concerns.
- Obtain detailed medical histories and perform focused physical examinations.
- Review and interpret diagnostic studies, including DEXA/bone density testing, laboratory results, and relevant imaging.
- Assess individual risk factors for osteoporosis and future fractures.
- Develop individualized treatment and prevention plans in collaboration with supervising and referring physicians.
- Manage and monitor pharmacologic therapies for osteoporosis and related bone health conditions within the APRN's scope of practice and organizational protocols.
- Order appropriate laboratory testing, imaging, and follow-up studies.
- Provide ongoing monitoring for treatment response, medication tolerance, and changes in fracture risk.
- Educate patients and families regarding bone health, including calcium and vitamin D intake, nutrition, weight-bearing exercise, fall prevention, lifestyle modification, and medication adherence.
- Coordinate care for patients following fragility fractures to help reduce the risk of subsequent fractures.
- Collaborate closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals, which may include orthopedics, endocrinology, primary care, rehabilitation, physical therapy, pharmacy, and other specialties.
- Facilitate referrals to additional specialists or support services when clinically appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
- Participate in quality initiatives focused on improving osteoporosis screening, treatment, patient education, and fracture prevention.
- Support the continued development and growth of Bone Health services within AdventHealth Medical Group.
Education: - Master's of Nursing [Required]
