Full Job Description

**Required: ISA Board Certified Master Arborist with Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ).**

Travel: 50-75% Overnight Travel Expected

Location: Sacramento, Redding, Arcata, Fresno, San Jose, San Luis Obispo, CA (Can be located anywhere within these cities)

Compensation: $44.00 to $48.00 per hour

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions: 

  • Evaluate project data, development site plans, and other
    project-related technical reports.

  • Prepare arborist reports and other technical reports related to
    tree and urban forest management

  • Develop written tree management recommendations.

  • Present findings to decision-making bodies, project teams,
    and industry groups

  • Prepare proposals, project scopes, and budgets.

  • Work collaboratively with project planners, engineers,
    biologists, GIS staff, and other resource specialists.

  • Contact property owners & public agencies regarding pruning and/or removals  

  • Conduct tree and brush inventories  

  • Conduct hazard tree inspections and evaluations  

  • Plan work for tree contractors  

  • Gather and manage field data; including tree species, size, and distance from conductors 

  • Analyze data and conduct project-related research

  • Validate data across various database systems to ensure reporting is accurate 

  • Verify that summaries and charts accurately reflect underlying datasets 

  • Safeguard employees and public from hazards in and around the work area  

  • Enforce on-the-job safety practices  

  • Carry and utilize materials, tools, and equipment at work site  

  • Service trucks and equipment, keep trucks and other assigned equipment in a neat and orderly fashion

  • Exhibit proficiency in program specifications, regulations, and standards 

  • Superior species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates 

  • Ability to interact with staff and other stakeholders as required or directed 

  • Ability to work both independently and as team 

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills 

  • Superior organization and time management skills 

  • Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with employees and vendors 

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Certification as an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA)

  • Certified Master Arborist with Tree Risk Assessment
    Qualification (TRAQ) required.

  • Species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates  

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record  

  • Ability to work independently  

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills  

  • Excellent customer service skills a priority  

  • Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather  

  • Proficient in map navigation skills  

  • Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software
