Full Job Description
As a Blockchain Test Engineer at S.W.I.F.T, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and security of our blockchain-based solutions. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test strategies to validate the functionality, performance, and integrity of distributed ledger technologies integrated into our financial messaging infrastructure. What to Expect: In this role you will: • Design, develop, and implement robust test plans, test cases, and test scripts for blockchain applications, smart contracts and related distributed systems • Execute various types of testing, including functional, integration, performance, security, and regression testing, specifically tailored for blockchain environments • Test and integrate blockchain protocols and platforms, including Ethereum-compatible networks (e.g., Hyperledger Besu), Cosmos and Canton • Test smart contracts for correctness, security vulnerabilities, and edge cases • Collaborate closely with development teams and blockchain architects to understand technical specifications and ensure testability of features • Perform load, performance and stress testing to assess scalability and transaction throughput • Validate blockchain network behavior, including consensus mechanisms, node synchronization, and fault tolerance • Test integrations with wallets, APIs, backend services • Identify, document, and track software defects and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution • Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and tools to improve efficiency and coverage of blockchain testing • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes, methodologies, and best practices within a blockchain context • Stay up-to-date with emerging blockchain technologies, testing tools, and industry trends • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance code quality and testability • Ensure adherence to S.W.I.F.T.'s quality standards and regulatory compliance requirements in all testing activities What will make you successful: We are seeking professionals with: • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field • Proven experience in software quality assurance or testing, with a significant focus on blockchain or distributed ledger technologies • Solid understanding of blockchain fundamentals, including consensus mechanisms (PoW, PoS, BFT), smart contracts, cryptography, and distributed system architectures • Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used in blockchain development or testing (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Go, Java, Solidity) • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, Jest, Truffle, Hardhat) • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field • Experience with performance testing and security testing methodologies for distributed systems • Knowledge of financial services industry standards and regulatory frameworks Swift is unable to sponsor an employment authorization for this position now or in the future. The estimated salary range for a new hire in this position in Virginia is $66,960.00 Annual MINIMUM to $124,354.00 USD Annual MAXIMUM. Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. About Swift

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication, legally S.W.I.F.T. SC, is a Belgian cooperative society providing services related to the execution of financial transactions and payments between banks worldwide. Its principal function is to serve as the main messaging network through which international payments are initiated. It also sells software and services to financial institutions, mostly for use on its proprietary "SWIFTNet", and ISO 9362 Business Identifier Codes, popularly known as "SWIFT codes". The SWIFT messaging network is a component of the global payments system. SWIFT acts as a carrier of the "messages containing the payment instructions between financial institutions involved in a transaction." However, the organization does not manage accounts on behalf of individuals or financial institutions, and it does not hold funds from third parties. It also does not perform clearing or settlement functions. After a payment has been initiated, it must be settled through a payment system, such as TARGET2 in Europe. In the context of cross-border transactions, this step often takes place through correspondent banking accounts that financial institutions have with each other. As of 2018, around half of all high-value cross-border payments worldwide used the SWIFT network, and in 2015, SWIFT linked more than 11,000 financial institutions in over 200 countries and territories, who were exchanging an average of over 32 million messages per day.
