Location: Long Beach

Shift: Days

Pay Range*: $43.70/hr - $50.10/hr

Position Summary

The BioMedical Technician II (BMETII) is a Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) specialist responsible for performing preventive maintenance and unscheduled repairs of clinical equipment. The BMET II ensures the proper functioning of patient treatment and diagnostic related medical devices on a daily basis and in a safe, cost-effective and efficient manner. The BMET II understands and develops medical equipment repair and preventative maintenance strategies by understanding complex electronic, mechanical, and system diagrams and processes. The BMET II designs and develops PM procedures and in-services BME staff on the maintenance and operation of medical devices. The BMET II works with clinical staff to ensure the safe deployment, operation, and conditions of the medical equipment inventory including medical device integration into the electronic health record, and hospital owned medical equipment used in the patients home.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job

1. Performs scheduled tests, inspections, and preventive maintenance.

2. Performs corrective repairs and incoming inspections.

3. Ensures preventive maintenance (PM) procedures and tasks are current and followed correctly.

4. Performs tasks in accordance with current life safety codes, manufacturer guidelines, and established clinical engineering practices.

5. . Maintains shop, equipment, and technical service documentation in a neat and organized manner.

6. Analyzes complex medical equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots advanced electronic, mechanical, and system-level issues requiring in-depth technical knowledge.

7. Performs advanced preventive maintenance and repair activities on higher-risk or more complex medical equipment with minimal supervision.

8. Supports lifecycle management of medical equipment by assisting with evaluation, setup, verification, and transition of new or replacement devices.

9. Provides technical input and recommendations on equipment reliability, maintenance strategies, and service histories to support department decision-making.

*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications.
