Responsibilities

  • Create independent designs under broad direction from Project Engineer or Manager
  • Direct BIM Technicians and supervise staff as necessary
  • Develop distinctive design features beyond typical BIM Technician outputs
  • Collaborate with clients and contractor representatives
  • Oversee BIM section operations, including staff development and morale
  • Manage project production alongside leadership responsibilities
  • Coordinate technical services with other sections and ensure administrative accountability
  • Ensure work is efficiently planned, organized, and controlled
  • Implement and monitor compliance with company policies
  • Select, train, and manage technical personnel

Full Job Description
In the role of BIM Section Manager, we'll count on you to:

  • Create designs independently under broad direction from the Project Engineer or Project Manager on various design projects
  • Direct preparation of drawings by other BIM Technicians of lesser experience, or take direct supervisory responsibility for BIM staff as needed\
  • Complete projects with distinctive design features that differ significantly from BIM Technician precedents as needed
  • Work with clients or contractor representatives as needed
  • Take responsibility for operations within the BIM section including staff development, morale, quality control and marketing support
  • Take responsibility for production on projects in addition to management responsibilities
  • Take administrative responsibility for staff and technical service functions, and lead and coordinate services with other sections
  • See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through proactive project management system
  • Implement, monitor and support company policy
  • Select, train, develop and manage technical personnel

  • Technical degree or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 5 years digital delivery (model management) experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building systems
  • Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure
  • Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tools
  • Advanced skillset of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
  • Familiar with industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications
  • Familiar with basic automation and programming applications for efficiencies
  • Familiar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applications
  • Familiar with content creation and management concepts
  • Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essential
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical support
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and leadership traits are essential
  • Must have strong organizational skills to establish priorities between technical support requests and project work
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and an excellent work ethic
