Job Description We're looking for a Billing Supervisor to join our Chicago office and play a key role in keeping our billing operations running smoothly across multiple offices. In this position, you'll oversee the billing team's day-to-day work, helping to ensure that assignments are completed accurately and on time, and that inquiries are handled promptly in line with the Firm's guidelines and procedures.
You'll serve as a go-to resource for your team, providing guidance on departmental matters, keeping an eye on workloads, and recommending adjustments to staff assignments as needed. A strong understanding of billing processes and staff responsibilities is essential, and you'll have the opportunity to model and encourage high-quality work throughout the department.
This role also includes hands-on billing responsibilities. You'll manage billing for assigned attorneys, including the preparation and monthly processing of proformas. - Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned Billing team members across all offices, training staff and promoting knowledge sharing.
- Communicate regularly with the Billing Manager on day-to-day operations.
- Collaborate with attorneys and clients on invoice presentation.
- Coordinate all billing processing functions in accordance with department procedures, proper accounting principles, and internal controls.
- Work alongside the e-billing team to troubleshoot issues and maintain a working knowledge of e-billing systems.
- Prepare and maintain documentation of Billing policies and procedures.
- Help develop plans to meet Firm deadlines and continuously improve billing processes.
- Oversee and assess the work product and performance of assigned staff, providing feedback to the Billing Manager as part of the performance review process.
- Process proformas, finalize invoices, and run pertinent reports in adherence to Firm policy.
Qualifications - Minimum of 7 years of legal Billing experience, including 2 years of working in 3E required.
- Prior supervisory experience required, with a demonstrated ability to lead by example and build a supportive team environment.
- Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including expert knowledge of Excel.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in accounting or business-related field with applicable accounting coursework.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting and adapting as workload demands shift.
- Flexible and resourceful when deadlines are tight, with a willingness to work overtime when needed, and a knack for staying ahead of workflow demands including coordinating coverage with minimal direction.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and analytical abilities, including the use of independent judgement and discretion when handling discrepancies resolution.

The anticipated good-faith base salary range for this position is:
- Chicago: $104,000 to $143,000 per year.

In addition to a competitive base salary, certain positions are eligible for a comprehensive performance-based bonus, payable monthly or annually.
