Job Description:

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Bid & Proposal Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Accountabilities:

* Lead and manage the entire bid lifecycle from initial qualification to contract award, including strategy development, proposal generation, and negotiation support.

* Ensure the strategy with Sales targets and the implementation of Company policies / guidelines for the definition and preparation of all financial / economic items of the assigned bids

* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, sales, legal, finance, operations) to define bid strategies, develop technical solutions, and formulate commercial proposals.
* Analyze customer requirements, RFPs, to identify key success factors and develop winning strategies.
* Develop and maintain bid plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of proposals.
* Manage and coordinate the input of all contributors, ensuring consistent messaging, quality, and adherence to company standards.
* Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans for bids.
* Prepare and deliver presentations to internal stakeholders and prospective customers.
* Participate in customer negotiations, providing expert support on technical and commercial aspects of the bid.
* Continuously improve bid processes, tools, and best practices.
* Mentor and guide junior bid team members.

Required Skills and Experience:

* Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in bid management, proposal management, or project management within the railway, transportation, or a related complex systems industry.
* Proven track record of successfully leading and winning large-scale, complex bids or projects ($50-$150M range)

* Ability to lead and work with others in a team environment to deliver results
* Strong understanding of railway signaling, control systems, and/or rolling stock technology is highly desirable.
* Excellent project management, organizational, and time management skills.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical and commercial concepts clearly and concisely.
* Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

* Master's degree preferred.

Languages:

Written and spoken English proficiency.
