Description and Requirements

BMC Software is looking for a Best Practices Manager to help our sales organization navigate complex enterprise Software and IT opportunities, strengthen deal strategy, and support the closing of high-value deals. You will partner closely with sales leaders, sales stakeholders, Enablement, and customers to improve sales execution and drive value-based outcomes.

This role is suited to someone with strong enterprise Software or IT sales experience who understands complex sales cycles, senior stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and close planning. You will be embedded in the team's operating rhythm, including QBRs, team cadence, pipeline reviews, and deal reviews.

Here is how, through this exciting role, you will contribute to BMC's and your own success:

  • Partner with sales leaders, sales stakeholders, and cross-functional teams on driving complex enterprise Software deals to closure.
  • Take part in QBRs, pipeline reviews, deal reviews, and team cadence to support strategic opportunities, risks, and close plans.
  • Engage directly with customers, alongside the sales team, to support deal strategy, executive alignment, negotiation, and close planning.
  • Identify ways to improve sales execution, forecast confidence, win rates, and revenue closure.
  • Turn patterns, risks, and customer insights into clear recommendations for your sales stakeholders.


To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience:

  • Significant experience in enterprise Software or IT sales, sales leadership, value engineering, or another senior customer-facing commercial role supporting complex sales cycles.
  • Strong understanding of complex deal structures, multi-stakeholder buying groups, executive engagement, commercial negotiation, and close planning.
  • Proven experience in high-value enterprise sales environments requiring qualification, account strategy, business-value articulation, internal alignment, and disciplined execution.
  • Credibility working side by side with sales leaders and broader sales stakeholders, helping teams move from discussion to action.
  • Ability to simplify complex business issues and translate ambiguity into clear, practical recommendations.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, commercial acumen, and stakeholder influence across customers, executives, sales teams, and cross-functional partners.
  • You are skilled at balancing BMC's immediate revenue objectives with the need for long-term business value, ensuring that agreements are both beneficial and sustainable.
  • Experience with principled negotiation methodology and an understanding of BMC's internal organization would be highly valuable.

The annual base salary range represents the low and high end of the BMC salary range for this position. Actual salaries depend on a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training, licensure, and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

The range listed is just one component of BMC's employee compensation package. Other rewards may include a variable plan and country-specific benefits.

At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range. This roles compensation includes a mix of base salary and variable pay. The base salary range is $141,750 - $173,250, with an On-Target Earnings (OTE) range of $283,500 - $346,500.
