Job Description

To design, develop and manage employee benefits programs that attract, retain and motivate a diverse workforce. Leverage knowledge of benefits policies and plans, federal/state laws and applicable Navy Federal policies and procedures to advise management on program changes and ensure compliance. Manage a range of basic to moderately complex benefits programs with some duties involving increased scope and complexity. Developing professional with full understanding of benefits landscape and trends and ability to apply creativity and independent thought.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analyses and studies of employee data, plan interpretations, plan documents, changes in legal and other related information to provide insights and/or make recommendations to modify and/or enhance employee benefits programs, policies, procedures and systems
  • Keep current with benefit industry trends to determine competitiveness; research trends, best practices, cost and financial impact, and make recommendations to benefits leaders
  • Partner with brokers, custodians, trustees, third-party administrators, vendors and attorneys to resolve moderately complex matters related to benefits plans and vendors
  • Manage projects to include implementation of employee benefit initiatives that adhere and support corporate and department strategies
  • Consult with technical teams to oversee the development of system interfaces, queries and reports; implement systems changes and enhancements to include writing business requirements
  • Oversee the implementation of benefits communication strategies and activities and lead the design and delivery of training programs to share information regarding benefits programs
  • Participate in the selection and management of vendors and contracts to include contract development, monitoring and issue resolution; oversee contract quality assurance, budget and cost mechanisms
  • Serve as a resource for the department in the preparation and submission of Federal and State mandated regulatory reports
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and legal requirements for benefit plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Experience in the design, administration and communication of employee benefits plans
  • Knowledge of various types of benefit plans (e.g., FSAs, health, disability, life insurance, workers comp)
  • Knowledge of, and ability to interpret/apply, benefits related laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and related analytical tools to conduct cost benefits analyses
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
  • Experience with interacting with management on strategy and change management
  • Skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable and positive outcomes
  • Advanced research, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to compile, organize and present information clearly and concisely
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, or related field, or the equivalent combination of experience, education and training
