Full Job Description
Reporting to the Director, Business Development the Benefits Consultant is responsible for growing the portfolio of small and medium market clients. The Benefits Consultant is responsible for achieving sales results, finding, and qualifying leads, and bringing new business opportunities to close. The Benefits Consultant sells product and services available throughout the Enterprise though is primarily focused on Group Benefits. They are comfortable working with C-Suite, Senior Leadership, and client decision makers to move forward new business development.

The Benefits Consultant will:
  • Act as the front-line sales point for People Corporation’s existing and prospective clients and works in a consultative selling capacity. This role contributes to the success of People Corporation by achieving growth of the client portfolio and therefore is a key contributor of the Group Solutions’ business performance and growth

  • Be challenged to promote and sell products and services from the broader People Corporation offerings to current and prospective clients

  • Achieve sales goals and targets as established by leadership within an assigned geographic area, industry, or sector and/or product line

  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle of group insurance, retirement and/or related products including identifying opportunities, prospecting, and networking, and building an appropriate sales pipeline

  • Identify opportunities for the sale of services from within the existing suite of products and services and from the broader offerings of People Corporation products, capabilities, and services

  • Actively search for and identify new clients for products and services within the areas assigned and will consider locating and finding new, alternate channels for building the funnel

To be successful as a Benefits Consultant with People Corporation, you will need:
  • Progressive experience in group benefits in a client facing or consulting capacity providing strategic and innovative solutions to clients' complex benefits challenges

  • A valid and active Life License Qualification Program (LLQP) or willing to obtain

  • Deep expertise and understanding of the group benefits industry including funding arrangements and flex programs

  • Superior analytical and mathematical skills, strategic planning, communication, and listening skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • A positive attitude and strong team player who works well with internal and external stakeholders

  • A solution and results oriented individual who demonstrates excellent problem solving skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines and provide deliverables as identified in a timely manner

  • Proficiency and comfort working with multi-channel technology

  • Availability to travel on an as needed basis

  • Valid Driver’s License and Vehicle

  • Group Benefits Associate (GBA) or CEBS designation or currently working towards it considered an asset

The base salary range for this position is between $85,000 - $95,000 annually.

This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc). The actual base salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training. If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, the Talent Acquisition Specialist will be able to provide additional details of the total compensation for this role.
