The Position
The Benefits Administrator leads the County's employee benefits and retirement programs, overseeing health, welfare, and CalPERS benefits while ensuring compliance with complex federal and state regulations. This position provides strategic leadership for benefits administration, HRIS benefits systems, open enrollment, vendor relationships, and cross-functional collaboration with Payroll, Finance, and Human Resources to deliver accurate, efficient employee services. The ideal candidate is an experienced HR professional with expertise in benefits, retirement administration, and process improvement who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys solving complex operational and technical challenges.
Experience and Education:
An individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:

Experience:
Five years of professional human resources experience which includes programming areas such as benefits administration, retirement administration, or HRIS administration. Two of those years must have been in a lead or supervisory role.
Education:
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources administration, public administration, business administration or a related field.
License or Certificate:*
  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
*Any license, certification, or registration required for this position shall be maintained (i.e. active and in good standing) at all times during employment with Napa County. For continued employment with Napa County, you must maintain such license, certification, or registration to meet the minimum qualifications of this position.

The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.
