Position Description:

Barrick has an opening for a Sustainability Data & Assurance Specialist. The Sustainability Data & Assurance Specialist is responsible for managing sustainability data governance, ESG performance reporting, and assurance coordination across the region. Working with site Health, Safety, Environment, and Community teams, this role ensures sustainability data is accurate, consistent, and audit-ready.

The position manages ESG reporting systems, supports weekly, monthly, and quarterly sustainability performance reporting, and coordinates assurance activities for sustainability standards and management systems. The role also supports ISO audit planning, regional sustainability training, and the continuous improvement of sustainability data processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage sustainability data systems, including administration and oversight of the Workiva reporting platform and Cority management system platform for Environmental and Social.
  • Coordinate weekly, monthly, and quarterly sustainability performance reporting for North America.
  • Validate ESG data integrity and ensure documentation meets disclosure and assurance standards.
  • Lead ISO 14001 audit planning and coordination across region; track corrective actions and closure. Serve as the Lead Auditor in most internal audits.
  • Coordinate external assurance activities (e.g., RGMP+, ICMM, ESG ratings reviews).
  • Provide audit support for the International Cyanide Management Code.
  • Support preparation of annual sustainability and ESG reports.
  • Maintain ESG dashboards and performance tracking tools.
  • Develop and deliver regional sustainability training materials and awareness programs.
  • Support materiality assessments and ESG data framework alignment (GRI, SASB, TCFD, TNFD).
  • Coordinate cross-functional data collection with Environmental, Social, Operations, Safety, and Finance teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Environmental Management, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Environmental Engineering, or related field required
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification preferred
  • 3-5+ years of experience in data management, report consolidation/management, or environmental systems coordination preferred
  • Highly competent in MS Office - especially Excel and PowerPoint preferred
  • Ability to create/deliver presentations building strong visual power points, educational material, web design, and maintenance preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, multi-site data reporting cycles preferred
  • Experience supporting external assurance or audit processes preferred
  • Experience with ISO audits preferred
  • Experience supporting mining or heavy industrial operations preferred
  • Familiarity with ICMM, RGMP, SDGs, Cyanide Code, or similar frameworks is an asset preferred
  • High attention to detail and data integrity required
  • Strong organizational and deadline management skills required
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple sites without direct authority required
  • Ability to work well with others required
  • Structured and systems-oriented thinker required
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to manage concurrent reporting cycles under time pressure required
  • Eligible to live and work in the United States, required required
  • Fluent in reading and writing, in English language required

  • Limited travel (approximately 10-20%) to support audits or regional training required
