Job Description

JOB PURPOSE

This role is responsible for leading and executing priority reclamation and closure projects across legacy sites in the western United States. The position is structured to provide rotational, field-based execution support aligned with seasonal access constraints, capital schedules, and business priorities. The incumbent will be deployed based on project needs and will operate as Barrick's owner's representative during planning and execution phases.

During non-field deployment periods, the incumbent will support the North America Closure group through technical review, desktop evaluations, consultant oversight, and development of studies, designs, and execution plans to advance closure strategies and capital readiness across legacy sites.

The role is dynamic and requires a balanced approach between field-based execution and office-based project management, including direct oversight of consultants and contractors. The incumbent must effectively manage relationships with site leadership, project teams, regulators, and other stakeholders to ensure reclamation and closure obligations are delivered in compliance with legal requirements and in alignment with Barrick's business and sustainability objectives.

This position requires strong project management capability, flexibility to travel and work at western U.S. legacy sites, and the ability to lead active closure and reclamation projects at the field level. The incumbent must provide both technical and operational leadership to drive disciplined execution and successful project delivery

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide operational oversight and project leadership at legacy sites in the western U.S., as required to support active reclamation and closure execution
  • Develop and implement project execution and management plans for earthworks projects, infrastructure upgrades, and technical studies
  • Track budgets and provide internal reports
  • Provide written and verbal project updates to internal leadership to motivate funding and support
  • Assist with refining and implementing comprehensive final closure strategies, with a focus on regulatory pathways and stakeholder engagement
  • Support final closure projects strategy and planning through execution to ensure these are completed in accordance with plan, schedule, and within the approved budget.
  • Ensure ongoing communication and cooperation with all site personnel to foster their development and identify opportunities to improve closure outcomes.
  • Act as Barrick's owner's representative during planning and execution phases to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, budget, safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Provide technical support and field management for consultants and contractors
  • Support community, and stakeholder engagement in collaboration with site and corporate management to advance closure and post closure obligations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience
  • Minimum 7 years of practical experience in mining, extractive industries or industrial operations, construction or consulting industry.
  • Flexibility to travel and be based at legacy sites in the western U.S. for at least two weeks per month.
  • Project management skills, including ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, are required.
  • Project management skills pertaining to water management operations, mine reclamation and rehabilitation are desired.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory constraints related to water management, environmental aspects and closure activities is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience in geotechnical principles pertaining to tailings storage facilities' maintenance and monitoring is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Agile mindset with the ability to think creatively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter who is willing to work in a variety of capacities as needed to drive delivery of projects.
  • Valid driver license.

Education
  • Post-secondary qualifications in environmental science, civil/environmental engineering, chemistry, mining or related technical field.
