Position SummaryThe Plant Operations Manager will oversee and be responsible for all daily operations, including managing, directing, and coordinating plant operations, and ensuring all policies, regulations, and procedures are followed, and promoting a safe work environment. This individual will ensure successful achievement of company objectives by delegating authority to key supervisors in production, quality of the coal processed, tested, loaded, and shipped.

- Works with Shift Supervisor and first-line Supervisors to ensure that all safety, productivity, availability, and cost objectives are met or exceeded by the prep plant and knows the status of these numbers on a day-to-day basis. Communicates plans, changes, and company policies & procedures to supervisors and employees.
- Works closely with the General Manager to develop processing schedules, minimize down time and coordinate processing activities with customer needs.
- Works with the General Manager to prepare operating budgets and long-term capital budgets.
- Oversee major maintenance projects that protect the facility for a long-term sustainable operation.
- Leads and encourages continuous improvement projects. Along with the General Manager, the Operations Manager continuously analyzes prep plant performance and opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in establishing production priorities to ensure the product is produced efficiently and within cost parameters while maintaining safety, quality, and sanitation standards; obtain optimum production and utilization of workforce, machines, and equipment.
- Develop, monitor, and drive plant key performance indicators (KPI's) related to safety, quality, productivity, and finances. Strive for continuous improvement in KPI results.
- Conduct meetings with management and staff to ensure all operational issues are being communicated and addressed expediently with a common understanding of goals.
- Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all company, state and federal regulations.
Required Skills and Experience - Fifteen+ years of preparation plant or mining experience
- Requires thorough knowledge of coal-preparation plant and mining operations, including safety, production, maintenance, economics, equipment usage, and staff utilization.
- Requires leadership and management skills and experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills combined with high attention to detail.
- Proven track record of improved results in the areas of quality, safety, service and cost
- Understanding of regulatory laws and responsibilities as it relates to plant standards.
- Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork.
- Able to think and use independent judgment in planning and organizing multiple tasks and information.
