Full Job Description
Responsibilities

This role will be responsible for transactional underwriting and functions associated with underwriting risks on behalf of Berkley Asset Protection.

We'll count on you to:

  • Review and approve new business, endorsements and renewals that fall within underwriting authority and company guidelines. Refer risks that fall outside authority or guidelines
  • Review risk management reports to identify and recommend risk management solutions and requirements.
  • Provide pro-active quote coaching for agents on new business submissions; align and convert referred accounts to new business.
  • Recommend service and risk management solutions at new line and other points of the underwriting transaction with agent/broker.
  • Manage book of business as it grows ensuring high quality and profitability of business.
  • Anticipate insured and agent needs and find service solutions.
  • Collaborate with Distribution, Marketing and Customer Service colleagues to ensure alignment and a consistent customer experience.
  • Frequent in person agent visits for large clients throughout the United States.
  • Work closely with management to implement new innovative solutions to workflow and processing.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • 10+ years of work experience in high net worth underwriting
  • People management experience preferable but not required
  • Incredible empathy and understanding of the needs of our customers, both insureds and their agents alike. You will be an excellent, pro-active advocate for Berkley Asset Protection customers and are passionate about their brand experience
  • Exceptional communication skills. Your communication style is flexible to the situation. From communicating updates to your team, to discussing metrics with key stakeholders, or presenting to leadership, you communicate clearly and with a purpose
  • A love of process and optimization. You are excited about the opportunity to create and experiment with underwriting quality and support processes and are willing and able to lead others using them
