Job Description

As a junior member of the US Property Treaty team, the candidate will be primarily responsible for developing, marketing, and underwriting profitable property treaty accounts alongside more senior underwriting professionals. The candidate should possess a willingness to cross train in other functions (e.g. claims, pricing, accounting) within SCOR. Over time, the candidate will be expected to assume client management responsibilities which requires strong communication skills and engagement across supporting functions and lines of business.

This position will be based in a SCOR office, either Chicago or New York City; the candidate is expected to be in office several days per week.

Responsibilities

Underwriting
  • Evaluate new and renewal property treaty reinsurance programs
  • Structure and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions
  • Evaluate and negotiate contract wording o Evaluate and negotiate pricing in conjunction with actuarial & modeler support
  • Monitor & adhere to cat capacity aggregations and allocations
  • Perform underwriting audits for current and potential clients
  • Work with Client Managers to support management of client relationships
  • Actively monitor market trends and engage in strategic discussions with internal and external parties.
  • Actively participate and contribute to internal projects.

Marketing
  • Attend marketing visits to broker offices and establish marketing presence.
  • Identify clients that align with SCOR's appetite and are additive to the overall portfolio.
  • Identify brokers that handle accounts that fit the SCOR underwriting targets.
  • Attend industry conventions to promote SCOR and develop business relationships.


Account Management
  • Work collaboratively with all internal parties to manage individual deals and overall client relationships.
  • Diligently maintain all documentation for assigned accounts as per SCOR guidelines.
  • Understand and adhere to SCOR underwriting and pricing guidelines.


Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Prior experience in US (re)insurance market; knowledge in property treaty reinsurance is a plus or willingness to be trained and mentored for further development
  • Strong origination skills and knowledge of the US property reinsurance/insurance market preferred.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time and dedicate a considerable amount of time to develop broker and client relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate and deliver in a cross functional team environment.
  • Excellent negotiation and analytical skills
  • Proficient with Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce and Tableau a plus
  • Working knowledge of RMS and/or AIR a plus • Ideal candidate has 2 - 5 years of prior experience in (re) insurance industry

Pay Range for roles performed in NY & CHI: $185,500-251,500 and $171,000-$231,500 base salary per year. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including
but not limited to location, experience, role and performance. The range listed is just one component of SCOR's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long term incentives. In addition, we provide a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance
coverage, life and disability insurance, a retirement saving plan, paid holidays and paid time off.
