Full Job Description

The Opportunity:

Reporting directly to VP, Patient Access, the AVP Patient Access provides enterprise-wide strategic leadership for all front-end revenue cycle operations, which may include scheduling, registration, insurance verification, public benefits, and financial clearance. This highly strategic role oversees multiple cost centers and sets long-term objectives to optimize patient experience, enhance operational efficiency, and drive financial performance. Develops and executes innovative strategies that align with organizational goals, leveraging technology and process improvements to streamline workflows and improve the patient experience. Requires extensive leadership capabilities to guide large, diverse teams, foster cross-functional collaboration, and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Acting as a key advisor to internal and external executive leadership, the AVP analyzes performance metrics, forecasts trends, and implements initiatives that reduce barriers, mitigate risk, and support sustainable growth. Bi-weekly travel (every other week) within assigned market will be required with this position.

  • Provides vision, leadership and operational oversight for all Patient Access functions and Senior Access leaders across the organization. This position will establish positive, collaborative relationships with operational leaders to fulfill the Ensemble Differences.
  • Actively leads and/or participates in modernizing Patient Access. This includes but is not limited to: goal setting (department level and/or overall revenue cycle), tracking and reporting of metrics, development and implementation of action plans to achieve goals, the review and implementation of new technologies, standardization of policies and processes and development of communication tools, both for staff and internal customers.
  • Accountable for a comprehensive and effective communication strategy with the department that promotes employee engagement, which includes enhanced employee productivity and morale. Communication style should promote a common understanding of the market, vision, strategy and accountabilities. Promotes a culture of two-way communications and creates opportunities for staff participation. Staff should have regular assessments and educational opportunities. Determines appropriate staffing levels, monitors compensation and strengthens recruiting and retention process.
  • Organizes functions through establishing clear accountabilities, delegation of duties and appropriate departmentalization without creating silos. Develops and maintains an effective, visible and well-respected leadership team by selecting, evaluating, coaching and managing the performance of qualified professionals. Negotiates and recruits with other department managers the need for cross training and support in their areas as necessary. Promotes team-building relationships in all areas of responsibility. Works in a collaborative manner with all managers/team leaders to ensure a successful and compliant revenue cycle process.
  • Assists with budget management and resource planning
  • Ensure staff are aware and compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, etc.
  • May be required to perform other job-related duties as requested.
  • Travel within assigned market(s) on a bi-weekly basis.

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or a combination of education and equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of Patient Access or Revenue Cycle leadership experience in a hospital or large health system
  • Experience managing multiple, complex health systems across multiple geographic locations
  • Demonstrated experience ​implementing strategic initiatives including alignment of company goals and vision with operational execution
  • Demonstrated advanced usage of AI, success in translating AI into Business outcomes, and the ability to move teams from experimentation to scale
  • Strong business acumen and ability to operate across functions and organizational levels
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to project confidence, credibility and authority; able to remain calm & show decisiveness under pressure
  • Ability to effectively lead diverse teams and influence change management
  • Effective communication skills with ability to clearly and succinctly convey information and ideas
  • Experience in healthcare provider finance operations or similar service environment
  • Critical thinking and action planning abilities

Certification:

  • CRCR certification required within 9 months of employment (Ensemble supported)

**This is a remote position; however, candidates must be willing and able to travel to and work onsite at client, temporary, or corporate office locations on a regular basis.**

**This position pays between $118,000 - $161,425 based on experience, and is eligible for annual incentives.**
